...too much cholcolate

There is a saying that life is like box of chocolates – you’ll never know what you will get. In my situation, it’s too much chocolate. My mother gave two sets of Belgian chocolate when she came from overseas. Since I don’t want to experienced sugar rush and instant weight gain, I was trying to eat it very slowly and I want to savor everything. Then, my aunt arrived form Italy and gave my share of chocolates as a Christmas and her arrival present. Then, my brother received his share of the Xmas basket/grocery and gave my share. Which means, I have three people giving me chocolate. I feel that this is more appropriate in the coming February. Anyway, I think I am pleased that I received chocolates but I think I will have a hard time choosing which one to consume. I hope they don’t expire quickly (all of them branded) since I’m planning to stretch to February.(as long nobody finds my secret secret stash hole). I geuss, in life, having more chocolate means more restraint on the consuming part.

Your chocolate will be fine until February... and beyond. Ignore any "sell by" dates on the boxes; those are not "expiration dates." If the chocolate is really too much for you, there is always the option of slicing down some of the pieces and mixing them into a cake batter for very decadent cakes or cupcakes. Then, you could give some of this away as gifts to friends or neighbors.

Thanks for the advice. It relieves of the anxiety of either over eating or leaving them to expire after a certain date. I agree that chocolate, especially the good ones with quality, are good to combine with some pastries.

Well, my technique is this. When I am given too many or too much food, I also share or give it to a friend or neighbor. I do not want to be obese or be sick from eating all these sweets, so it is best to share.

Nice technique. I guess I need to choose who I want to give it and not someone will constantly demand them from me.

Control and moderation are always key. I just hope I have enough control when it comes to chocolate. I do love Belgian chocolate.

you can save chocolate for a long long time (years).. even if it looks white you can still eat it and the taste won't change. Unless it's a bad quality. A bad quality doesn't mean the % of chocolate there is in it but the quality of the chocolate that is used in the first place. personally I would give away most of the chocolate to someone else. BTW if you have a good quality of chocolate there should not be that much sugar in it at all, so I doubt you will have a sugar rush (never heard of that plus my daughter is able to eat kilo's of chocolate if she has it.. like the chocolate castle I made her for Dec. 5th, it was over 5kg of chocolate). Other thing you can do is hide your chocolate.

Thanks for the advice. I tihnk I a hiding it for the meantime. I guess there isn't really a good occasion yet to merit a good release and eating of chocolates. perhaps on Christmas Eve.

well, for me no doubt I will eat all of it as much as I can, I love chocolates, the taste it just something you just can't get off in what you want to eat, specially the high class ones, imported ones, just can't get enough.

I could agree that in some point in time,I might not get enough. But I'm trying not be patient and savoring each piece.
