haphazard caroling...

I don't like it when kids carol haphazardly, singing very fast, the lyrics are not understood, laughing like they are just kidding, and after singing one song in a hurry they start yelling,"Marry X'mas!" in our dialect. Are they kidding me? They are just making foolishness. They better sing properly like they mean it. I don't give anything to these kids/people who seem to be making fun of the situation. They do not know respect. All they want is the money or the goodies you give them. I am not giving them anything unless they show some respect.

It is a shame that carol singing has become an excuse to beg for money. If a good effort is made and the singing is worth giving some money for charity then that is different. At least you are not encouraging these children by giving them money to make them go away. I have seen some interesting carol singing on Utube where professional singers have mingled with the crowds in a large supermarket and then one by one have started singing carols. It is quite beautiful to watch. People look curious and then get involved and join in the singing. That is how carol singing should work I believe and that makes Christmas more real than children banging on the door or decorations in the shops.

I would love to see that group Combe. Yes, the caroling seems to be a guise only for begging and they want to be quick with it as well.

Oh wow! My friends and I have done that when we were first learning carols. It can be so hard when you are young to sing with a group, and some people are taking it seriously, and others might not. I was one of those people who took it seriously because I loved singing, and I would sing all of the time, but people would always look to me, or follow my cues when it came to singing because I knew the carols so well. Also, some children don't get it. They think it is a joke because they don't know the meaning of it, or the meaning in it. Depends on the children and how they are raised. My mother and grandmother gave me music history because they saw that I had musicality in me at such a young age (I was three years old when I began wanting to sing the songs from "Carmen" in front of my grandmother. She said I had "the gift"), but many children are not like this, and their families could care less about teaching them anything about music or music history. I would take those kids under my wing and teach them how to really sing if I ever saw them. They would learn how to enunciate, communicate their feelings in song, and they would learn presentation skills. They would learn how to be true performers. They would learn everything that they need to know about singing, music and presentation skills.

Roguel I am not really expecting any stage presentation but just plain respect and a little seriousness when they carol. The problem is that some of them are just making fun and making foolishness.

It is begging, plain and simple, if they are not singing to tune, can't even be bothered to learn the words then obviously they have the ulterior motive of getting money. I certainly wouldn't get them any money. I am not mean or tight, but that smacks of begging pure and simple and using Christmas as an excuse. If the money was going to charity then I would give, but you know damn well it's not!

It is. A lot of people go from house to house, others carrying babies not bothering anymore to sing but just say, "Merry Christmas!" to all the houses they go to and to which we are supposed to give them money. Well, I have prepared candies and that's what I am giving everyone this Christmas.

Hi cutie You are right. Just yesterday it happened near our house(neighbors) at 11:30 pm they were singing actually is yelling or something else i don't know what should i say, but the fact is i did not understand anything what they were singing and only i can understand was "merry Christmas" at last. I think they do all this only for the snacks they get at last. I don't like this kind of sow off.

They are in a hurry to get the money or food given to them. There is no more sincerity in their singing.

I am really irritated by those kids here. Singing jingle bells as if they are in a hurry to the point that it sound like a poem then they won't finish the song and then asks for money, how's that????? After every carolers there would always another group who would sing a Christmas carol, oh my I can't take that anymore everyday it happens I mean every night. They kept o yelling and it irritates me.
