I watched the Hobbit today. I think it's really nice! I cannot wait for the next movie. Anyone here who has read the book? I'm not sure if I should read the book because I might get disappointed at the movie if I do so.

I've read the book and seen the movie. I think the people that are not really into Tolkien's Middle-Earth universe will be a bit disappointed, but it's totally worth it for the Tolkein fans. Just like The Lord of the Rings movies, there are differences between the book and the movie. I think they overdid it a bit in the Hobbit. There are parts of the plot that don't have much to do with the action in the book or the main plot, but they chose to insert. I fail to see the point for some of the scenes - they make the movie longer for no reason. I'm not really disappointed at the movie, in general, but I think it was a bad idea to make it soooo long - in parts. They might lose a lot of people who didn't understand much of the first part - which is a very long introduction. There will be much more action in the next two parts, but some may have lost interest after the first.

I haven't seen this movie yet, or read the book, but I really want to see the movie soon! I watched all of the LOTR movies without reading the books, and that worked just fine for me, so I don't think you have to read the book by any means. But a lot of people say the books are actually better than the movies, so if you are a big fan, it might be worth it for that reason :)

I haven't watched the movie and I don't really have the intention of doing so. It's just not my type. They have read the book prior to the movie and they say that it was pretty good. The book isn't that long and they say that it's a good read. I still have to find the time to read it though. Have a great mylot experience ahead. Happy Holidays!
