The house where I live is a little bit far from the city proper and waiting for public transport in this area could take forever. Well, I was going to the gym and so I waited for a tryke (our means of transportation here) but not one came by. However, a horse-drawn public transport came by so I did not let it pass. I had to reach my destination so I did not care if it would take me a little bit of time to reach the gym.
On the way I asked the horse owner and "driver" how many of them are left in the city. This was the city's first public transportation and they are slowly disappearing. I learned from the horse-cart driver that there are only two of them left in the city because the original horse drivers have grown old and are now retired. This man's father was a horse driver too and he said he took it up from him because his father has retired too.
Have you ever tried riding a horse-drawn cart?

Hi
I used to see horse carts in my childhood but now all disappeared. We can find them (very less) in the country side in some places. But still they may disappear soon. I have tried horse drawn cart in childhood while visiting my grand parents place long back.

How lovely! When my mum went to one of the Channel Islands, near Guernsey, Sark it was called they had no vehicles! So no cars, no buses, vehicles on the island were strictly prohibited, there was only two ways of getting around for tourists and people who lived there, by bike or by horse and cart. I even remember the name of the horse, Sullivan, he had a bad case of wind and kept leaving deposits everywhere, it was so funny at the time, everytime he lifted his tail we had to look away and hold our noses.

There must be very few places left where horse drawn carts are still operating. The only ones that I have seen have been at holiday resorts where they are designed to attract tourists. It seems a pity for such a traditional and nostalgic form of transport to virtually disappear from society.
The main problem is that many people will try this type of travel for curiosity, but using the system only once is not enough to support it as a business. It would also be rather unpopular in bad weather.

A horse drawn cart is a very interesting and unusual form of transport. I am keen on traveling to different countries. I have seen some horses and carts in some places like a town in Austria and a country park in Poland. The countryside route by horse and cart led to a beautiful looking blue lake. Wow. Yes, a horse drawn cart is an old form of transport which is disappearing.
