Wish in temple

India
December 24, 2012 1:15am CST
My grandson Bishu 18 months young was ill; he had high fever, loose motions, vomiting etc. He was treated by doctors and cured; but while he was sick, I had prayed and made wishes to offer coconut to our Gods and Goddesses in the temples and to our family deities in our puja-room. So this evening I will go to temples in my city and offer the coconuts with flower, ghee wick lamp and incense sticks. In one temple of Goddess we will donate a pair of eyes made from pure silver; many do; a part of our faith. Don’t you pray/offer something to your God/Goddess when someone is ill? Please share your views and comments on this. Kalyani 24/12/12

Yes,madam,I had prayed for my mother who was severely ill,but as I had no money then- literally nothing- I could not offer anything to God.I just surrendered myself to God and started chanting His name day and night.Doctors had lost all hopes for my mother's recovery, but I don't know whether it was a miracle or something else,my mother came round and lived on for next four years fully healthy.

God never needs money or costly gifts or offerings, sincere prayer is enough, you can offer flowers only Glad to know your mother was cured, is that not wonderful? Thanks for sharing. CHEERS

I think so too,Isjapdoit. It was certainly a divine intervention.Otherwise doctors had lost all their hopes of my mother's recovery.

I am glad that your grandson is better. I do pray when someone is sick and I ask God to heal them. Sometimes He does, sometimes He doesn't. I do not practice "offerings" to my God such as you described. I am not sure about this custom and how it can please a god or goddess. It seems like it would not matter to them since they are diety???

From what I read, whether or not there are offerings would not matter, it's our sincere prayer that God cares about.

Now God is only with the cruel person now my faith is loosing for God. Why not support the innocent person why support the cruel men. But yes even the Dr. is good but we trust only on God and pray in temple for the health of our family members.

Surekha, dr prescribes medicines, in many cases they may/may not work, but the prayer certainly helps. Thanks for sharing. CHEERS

Yes we pray for healing, but we do not offer up anything but praise to our God. If I may ask what religion are you so that I can learn more about it?

Glad that your grandson Bishu is now okay Kalyni2011. Yes God cares about us and will help us if we pray with our sincere heart. I pray to Buddha everyday for the health of my family and myself. I do that in times of illness and health.
