Last Loaf of Bread

I'll be taking my last loaf of Nature's Pride 100% whole wheat bread sandwich size out of the freezer today. It most likely will be the last loaf I will ever have. The reason for that is it is a Hostess brand and Hostess is gone. There are stories that many of the Hostess brands or product lines with be bought by other companies. Unfortunately, I don't think Nature's Pride will be one of them because there are so many other bread producers and it generally is not that well known as a Hostess product like Twinkies and other things are. That is too bad since Nature's Pride 100% whole wheat bread is my favorite and in my opinion is better than any of the others I have tried. I guess I will have to go back to Nature's Own which I used to get but when Nature's Pride became available in a local store I tried it because it did not have the big concave smashed end of each loaf that sometimes stretched for almost a third of the loaf that Nature's Own always has. I discovered that not only did Nature's Pride not have one end smashed, but it had a better taste, texture and several other better qualities. I try to avoid high fructose corn syrup so that rules out Sunbeam, Walmart's store brand and several others. Sara Lee which is taking over more and more shelf space in the stores is just not as good as either Nature's Pride or even Nature's Own. So goodbye Nature's Pride, I will miss you.

I like Pepperidge Farms breads, I love their Pump and their rye breads are also good. Heck, even their sourdough is good and I'm not great fan of sourdough...

hi stealthy I did not know Hostess made Nature;'s Pride as I also liked that b read very muchl But Vons had its own bakery an d their artisan breads are just wonderful. Whole grain breads with nuts and raisins in them and garlic whole grain, they have five or six reallyh grea breads and at reasonable prices too.

Bunny makes a whole wheat white loaf. It's comparable to the Nature's Pride I think. I too have been using the Nature's Pride. But I'll just bet some company will pick it up. Hope so anyway. I won't miss the Hostess brand very much as I'm not into too many of those sweets that they produced. I did buy Twinkies every once in a while. Since the news came out about Hostess folding, I've seen multiple sites that offer a recipe for making your own Twinkie. Haven't tried that yet as I'm waiting to see who will pick up the Twinkie production.

There are many things that we will all miss now that Hostess is gone. Nature's Pride being one of them. I don't like 'Blue Bird (I think that's what they're called). For some reason a lot of the products they took over don't taste the same. I wish you the best of luck in finding another bread you enjoy.
