Hello May be virat kohli is still too young, but he has experience of captaincy for under 19 team in the past. And under his captaincy we had won the under 19 world cup too. So he can be a good captain if he get a chance, that's what I think. At least he can be a captain in one format, may be of T20, so dhoni can share some burden with other player. Dhoni is loosing his touch in compare of before, so others should get chance.

Hey apk, If dhoni needs am replacement from his current position. Kholi is the best option to replace him. As you mentioned he lead team india for t20 under 19. Anyway it doesn't matter if had lead the team under 19 or 20 but if had brought team india a great win.

Well, I would just say : "Go for split captaincy". This is the need of the hour for Indian cricket team.

you not compare under 19 to international cricket....we see that the players who made century in first class cricket not so well performs in odi or test international cricket....the best way to improve your skills to play in english county cricket where players faces many different fast bowlers or spinners....

you can count on kohli or sewag, both are good. if both of them fail, i will be next captain...

Just wondering. Are you Gautham Gambhir in disguise?

If I were Gautham Gambhir, I won't be using mylot do I? Gautham Gambhir doesn't have the potential to be captain, this is just my opinion. He is good but I don't think he could handle high pressure situation like Kohli does. I prefer to be like Gangnam style Gayle in disguise (in case you like to compare the next time), who is funny and a cricket comedian... Gangnam Gangnam ...

love your idea of making kohli captain but there are issues. first find the guys who contributes to the team in all 3 formats.kohli and raina performed well in both T20 and odi so make them contendors.as for test, its a somewhat new team.pujara, kohli and in future i see rahane but not untill they make their mark in that format.so that leaves only gambhir. so if you are gonna replace Dhoni as captain in all 3 formats,i go with gambhir for test, kohli for T20 and gambhir/raina in ODI. we dont want another scenario of giving extra pressure of captaincy to a new guy and when they choke,we lose a good player for future and a captain.

I doubt if Suresh Raina would be acceptable to selectors and may be even players as captain even for Twenty 20. So, Gambhir and Kohli look best for these formats. For ODIs, we may even retain Dhoni as captain.

I don't think there will be good replacement for captain Dhoni. There's no doubt about that Dhoni is a very good captain and now he is taking lots of wrong decisions but I think he needs more time may it's not his time...

Yes. I agree with this idea. This move will be helpful for team India and MS Kohli is fit for leading team India. If it happens we can see old Dhoni with full of aggression and more big innings.

I don't believe on replacing Dhoni, rather I would like to see split captaincy. It is very difficult to do captaincy in all three format of the game and succeeding in all.Now time has come to relax the burden to some extent from Dhoni's shoulder and share with some of the emerging young cricketer who proved their leadership potential earlier. In that category the first name comes is Kohli under whose leadership India won under 19 world cup.Let he do captaincy in one format of the game and share the responsibility with Dhoni.

I do not understand why in India, selectors are so reluctant to try split captaincy, when it is something actually needed to get things working better for Indian team. Any thoughts?

My view is that selectors can go for split captaincy. make Virat Kohli as the ODI and / or T20 captain to begin with, and persist with Dhoni in the tests. If things go worse, make Virat Kohli test captain after a year or so, once he is set as the captain in the shorter format. or may be , a third captain for T 20s, could also be an option.

Hi shashank, When team is performing so bad in all the department then it is not right to just blame captain or the coach but I feel since our current coach has taken over the team is on down hill. May be it is time to replace the coach not the captain. Or may be Dhooni should be shown the door in one format of the game so he knows that he can be replaced. Kohli is good option since he is certainty in all matches of next series. No one else is.

There are plenty as I can see, but there is not a need for that at the moment especially in the shorter formats of the game. In tests Dhoni should be replaced, as of late he has failed miserably as a captain and failed to lead the team from the front, so that is an urgent requirement.

Hi Shashank, That's the problem with Indian cricket board, Dhoni clearly is not able to manage Indian team, his dispute with Sehwag, Gambhir and Irfan is known to everyone and his affection with Jadeja is as dumb as possible. It's his attitude that's costing us series here, if the captaincy is given to Kohli, things will go smooth, Sehwag and Gambhir will give their 100%, Irfan will get his well deserved chance in Indian team and Jadeja as everyone wants, will be excluded from the team. It's the right time to change the captaincy, at least at T20 level. Kohli is mature enough to handle captaincy of Indian team.

I feel that this is very hard for the Indian captain dhoni. I don't think that there is a change in the head of the team. Winning any cups proves that he is much capable of it. I feel it is better to give him some rest and give him the chances. I hope this will be much better, than replacing him permanently.

Dhoni had proved in past that he is a good captain. But for winning or losing not only captain but team work is essential. Well I myself think Dhoni is capable, he just needs to be more comfortable and free with its team. Well he is very good captain according to me. No offense to anyone.

I do not think currently we have anyone to replace Dhoni. If we look at his statistics and things he has been doing since world cup,no one in team is closer to that.Kohli has lot to prove before he is handed captaincy.Just an year of great batting cannot be translated to captaincy.Plus Dhoni is cool and that is something most captains do not have.He has been a great member like micheal Bevan when it comes to batting. And he keeps the wickets well so that has been special.I think Dhoni should continue till atleast next World cup or so and then hand over captaincy to next person.Afterall dhoni gave us 2 championships and also couple of overseas victories. And the current losses are not attributed to dhoni alone. It comes as team and there are many members to be blamed than just Dhoni.A captain is as good as his team. They need to give him on field support with bat or ball for the captain and team to go for the kill.Sadly ever since England 2011, it has been different.Personally , I think Dhoni has been doing a great job and should continue with the things. Thanks!

Dhoni is my favorite captain. Few bad series has really made him a villain amongst the the Indian fans. No doubt he will have to leave cricket at a time but he deserves to continue captaincy until he wants. The one and only replacement i see in the Indian team is Suresh Raina. He doesn't really has any discipline issues. He has really become mature by time. Selectors should keep an eye on him as the next skipper of team India.
