Egg yolk

Egg yolk - Despite having blessed with so much goodness, its high cholesterol levels discourage many to eat the egg yolk. Strange are the ways of nature!

What do you do with the egg yolk that contributes to high LDL cholesterol?.My parameters show that I have a slightly higher LDL and I have decided to give the egg yolk to my pet - I hope her cholesterol does not increase! Here is a comparison of the white and yellow of the egg: http://www.cholesterol-and-health.com/Egg_Yolk.html Egg yolk has so much to offer and yet it undoes everything else because of its high cholesterol content. Strange are the ways of nature! Today I did not give the yolk to my pet. Here it is. Help yourself.

Somehow, I doubt that it is the "evil" egg yolk that is driving up your LDL cholesterol levels. While egg yolks have gotten a bad reputation, it is somewhat undeservedly so. Unless you are eating a lot of them, they are most likely not the culprits. If you are truly concerned about your cholesterol levels, take a serious look at your diet. Do you eat meat at most or all meals? Do you use a lot of butter in your cooking? Do you routinely consume processed foods containing animal products?

Since my boyfriend is anti-egg, I usually don't have them around. I do have a dozen in the fridge now, and I likely will be using most of them in fritatas in the coming weeks. Those he will actually eat--as long as he doesn't really focus on the eggs. We eat a mostly plant-based diet, so my LDL cholesterol levels have not been a concern. My sugar levels have, thankfully, also not come up high; that is always a far greater worry to me given my family history.

Mu sugar levels are perfect and I could say my cholesterol has not gone up to any dangerous level. It is just that I like to see those parameters within limits something I feel happy about. What are fritatas?

I am not into any of those foods that would raise my ldl. In fact I eat that which increases my hdl. I went slightly overboard consuming eggs and somehow had the feeling my parameters had gone haywire due to that. I now eat the whites and will check my parameters once again may be after a few months and see whether there is any change. How about you? How friendly are you when it comes to consuming eggs - a food that is packed with goodness, otherwise?

Yes it is fact that egg yolk contain high amount of cholesterol and heavy consumption my be cause harm to your heart health. The cholesterol present in egg yolk causes narrowing of blood vessel and increases blood pressure. But egg white contain high amount of protein which is helpful for body building.I never eat egg yolk.

So you too are conscious of this fact and do you also feel the need to restrict your consumption of the yolk? And if so what do you do with the yolks? It is indeed a sad thing that the yolk which has all the goodness is listed under 'restricted' intake

Not me alone,in my family no body eat egg yolk.My friend is a doctor and once he came to my home and saw we people were enjoying boiled eggs and salt with chili powder. When I offered him boiled eggs I saw him removing the yolk and eatting the white part only. When I asked him why he was not eating the yolk part he described me in detail about the harm it causes to body after heavy consumption. From that day onwards we stopped eating egg yolk.

If you really can't eat the egg yolk because of the high cholesterol. Perhaps it is OK to use it to make a facial mask? At least it will be helpful for your skin?

Vow! Splendid idea. I never thought of that. But will it penetrate through the skin and raise my ldl level?

Like Jenny said, one egg in a week may be safe. You can use pepper powder, which may help to reduce cholesterol level. Your pet is lucky, she can have all those egg yolks. I wonder whether animals do face any such problems?

On the one hand eggs are packed with goodness and yet on the other, the cholesterol content in them dissuades people from eating them on a daily basis. It is not just heart patients or those with high BP but they are just not recommended specially the yolk as the yolk contains very high cholesterol. Eating just one egg a weak will not provide the necessary nutrients.

For health consideration, they said it is only 2 eggs are required for every individual to eat in a daily basis. As you've said, it has high cholesterol content. Most likely, it is not advisable for hypertensive patients or even with heart disease. It is a risk factor to be inflicted with brain or heart attack.

It is more a prophylactic measure in that eating eggs with yolks may be 2 per day have the prospects of one's ldl going up. And high ldl is a cause for concern. No one has responded to my query as to what they would do with the yolks if one only had the whites

Just eat once a week. But I heard that an organic chicken can give low cholesterol egg. Well I'm not really sure about that, I'm just starting to research about that.

I am doing just that. I do not know if organic chicken is available here. I have changed my diet a bit here and there and will check my parameters again if there is improvement. Nothing to panic but I like my parameters to be just right. I am health conscious.

Well, you can actually just take one egg in a week to be safe. But if you would really want to get rid of the yolk, why not make a business out if it, like making custards!

Make custard and then sell? No way. Caramel custard is my favourite and I used to simply gorge on it as though the world would come to an end until my parameters warned me about going slow! I really wonder sometimes what vague combinations nature has come out with!
