What is their motive? Is this Obama care?

I get this notice in the mail that a nurse practitioner will be calling me in the next few days to take my vital signs and ask me questions. They say I can call them to make an appointment for a home visit, or u can wait for the nurse to call me.
There us no cost and this says the information they gather will not be used to raise my insurance rate.
I'm confused and a little but distrustful. I mean, an insurance company isn't your friend. They want to make money in you. That's why they are in business to make money off if us. This is from Humana. The nurse us from another company associated with Humana, I guess because that company had a different name.
I don't understand this. What could be their ulterior motive? Why do they want to know all about my health?
I think tbis might be some if that Obama care crap and they can determine if they want to pay for your care ir let you die if they refuse to pay.
What are your thoughts? Has this happened to you?

Wow I have not heard of this! I would care Humana up and see if it really happening. As I have never heard of this. I don't understand why they would come to your home. As you insurance should have your medical records and know all this already. To me it raises red flags and sounds like it may be a scam. For your own protection, please call your insurance company. The number should be on the back of your insurance card. Do not call the number they called you from, cause if it is a scam they would lie to you.

I strongly agree with you there, calling the insurance company is the best way to determine if the service is legitimate or not. It could be some crooks pretending to be sent by insurance companies to check your health but probably and literally check your pockets and see if you can resist their hold up
. if you want to have your health check i think this is something you should do and not the insurance company.

Hi Rusty and Letran! I'm with you on this. If I want my health checked, I can do it on my own with my own doctor. I don't know why my insurance company would want to get all up into my business. It sounds very suspect to me.

its very possible that its the obama care crap. since my doctor told me that things have changed drasticly and thats the reason why you have to go to the office to get an antibiotic or anything any more. insurance has to have documentation from tests to approve anything now.

That was my thought. I am being provided a case manager and she will be my advocate. She is going to bring me up to date on all of the changes to my plan.

I was going to say the same thing as the others, call your insurance company and find out what's going on. I would consider something like this an invasion of my privacy. Unless there was a compelling reason for it (such as a necessary change in your insurance) I wouldn't do it.
I don't know about the Obamacare stuff, but I suspect we're going to find out a lot we wish we weren't a part of very soon.

I haven't gotten any mail at all like that..at least that I know of. I would ignore it if I were you. I don't know if it has anything to do Obama or not but I know that once I hit 50, The insurance vultures got more aggressive in trying to sign me up. I had a small fire a while back and 3 of them knocked on my door within an hour of it happening. i would say I get stuff on various life and health insurance policies almost daily. I don;t even read them anymore...I just toss them.

The envelope came from Humana but the letter came from some other health company or something. I have never heard of the name before. I'm gonna call the number on my card to see why I got that letter. It sounds like I don't have a choice in the letter. They will call me to set up an appointment or I can call them. I'm not answering their call. I'll call Humana myself and ask why this company wants to see me.

Go to the us government site look
For information on American care act
That will tell you how it works.

Sometimes we get surveys in the mail about our health. Its more for stats purposes, but normally you fill it out. It sounds like exactly what you said, they are out to collect stats and make changes. I am so glad we don't have that here, but then if you have certain diseases, you may not be able to get your licence, or drive, some jobs, etc.

I called Humana today and it is some services added to my plan at no charge. I can accept it or say no, but they want the visit anyway. So I guess it's not a scam. The insurance company is bound by HIPPA laws so they can't share my health information with a third party. I'm glad about that.

I don;t know what it is except they do it here too, and you are talking silly Obama is not going to let you die. Having a nurse practitioner as well as your doctors give you better care.

I wouldn't blame Obama for this. What on earth would Obamacare have to do with what, in my opinion, sounds very suspicious. I wouldn't answer any information and make sure to call your insurance company.
I know there are people out there who use and twist laws like this to get private information from people. So talk to your insurance company and if they say you need a physical or something then ask to go to your doctor.
Lately, a lot of people have been working to get personal information with a lot of new scams and the like. I'd be careful if I was you. I had someone call me the other day saying they got my number from the electric company and more... except the electric company doesn't have my new number yet as the place has been closed for the holidays. So definitely double check.

I got to the bottom of it. It's some more services being offered at no cost to me. They are bound by HIPPA laws to not share my medical information. Anyway I can accept or reject the extra services. I was relieved it really was Humana.
