In futsal, as in a separate version of soccer, things DO resemble somewhat the present condition in "big soccer." However, not without surprises.
The main two countries are Brazil and Spain, where Brazil is the first and Spain is the second. Most likely, the opposite now in "regular soccer."
A surprise-team is Russia - it holds the 4th place by an international ranking. Argentina is only the 6th. And Uruguay, where the first official game of futsal was played, holds only the 25th rank.
It is possible that Uruguay is more preoccupied with regular version of soccer, but it doesn't explain the same "fever" in Brazil and Spain - these two are on top, regardless of the sport's popularity, large or small.
I have always enjoyed playing futsal. I'm a goalkeeper - it's much easier to guard my smaller net in futsal than the on in the regular soccer.
