Kicking the cold...

I have been juicing lots since Christmas, when I got my new juicer. Tonight I made a delicious drink. Kale, cucumber, celery, orange and ginger root. It is honestly so good! I started to get a bit of a cold the day before Christmas and my whole family is now full blown sick. Not me, I am as good as ever! Perhaps tomorrow they will be more inclined to try my juice. They all are disgusted by it but boy are they missing out! What do you do to kick your colds this time of year?

Cold normally does not bother me, no matter what the weather but this time because of 'gluttening' on oranges (they are in season here) I have developed a soar throat. I am sipping warm water and also gargling with warm salt water. That should do the trick. The ginger in your juice gave the desired punch. I too experiment when a new gadget is introduced in the kitchen!

Oh I just love oranges :) I hope your sore throat clears quickly! Gargling salt water is my favorite way to ride a sore throat. Ginger does give a really great kick to the juice. My first time making it I did not put enough so I adjusted a bit and think I have found my perfect desired amount now :) What was the last new gadget you had fun experimenting with? I am having so much fun with the juicer, it is my new favorite kitchen item :)

I had added a comment about the vessel and your counter comment to it. Both these comments have disappeared. Did you notice it too?

The lid holds water on top? I have never seen anything like it and I WANT ONE! haha... What a neat concept :) I think I know what my next kitchen buy is going to be :) I almost said something on the other discussion but figured I would just go with it. Gahndi Appliances seems like a wonderful site. I have bookmarked it and will be going back there often I think. Thanks for sharing, I never would have found it on my own :) Do you use this site often?

I wonder if because I wasn't adding oranges to my smoothies and I kept forgetting ginger, that I got hit hard, besides that I stopped drinking the vinegar/honey tea? I think that is great, keep juicing.. Did you see the smoothie posted today? Many times she makes smoothies with ingredients I can't get around here, but it looked good...

MMMMMM... Ginger is just so good!!! I love it! The vinegar honey tea was good and my boys loved it as well :) I did see the smoothie today and it sounded delicious, not sure what I would substitute for the goji berries but I have never seen them around here :) It is a really great addition to my face-booking. I love seeing all the comments from others about what they use for ingredients. There are a lot of creative people in the world.

I am a recent user of ginger, because for some reason I was afraid to buy and try it, I always bought the powder stuff. But now I buy the root and because I am not use to using it, I forget. As for the goji berries, that is what I don't know anything about except that they are not sold in my area. I guess I could have looked them up online to see what would make a good substitute, or even asked on the page, but I have been working hard trying to write out my synopsis for my book and hopefully have it ready to go long before the 7th, when classes start again and I am buried under school work..

It is amazing how many uses there are with ginger and the root is just so much tastier than the powder :) I am not sure where the nearest chinese herbal shop is to me, so I think Goji berries are out for me. I didn't find anything in terms of substitute but maybe I will ask on the FB site. So your working on a book? What is it about? If you don't mind me asking... I miss school work, would love to go back to a class or two in the near future :)

I'm still on the tail end of a cold, and I have been trying to kick it out for a few days now. I would love to have a juicer as I think that would be a good remedy for common colds specially at this time of the year. Plus I think that would be great for me to as I don't think I get all the vitamins that I'm supposed to be getting at what I eat.

It seems to be working for me with the Ginger which is awesome. I also eat a lot of garlic and when I feel a cold coming on I chomp down a clove before bed and it seems to help with sleeping :) have you ever heard of putting a halved onion in a bowl in your room? I have ready that the bacteria is attracted to the onion more than the body and that the onion acts as a catcher for things like colds and flus. Not sure if it works or not but I have been trying that as well. I do like yogurt and will be trying to make smoothies again this spring. I love the juice, it just tastes like it is good for my body and it is so delicious.

I think I will add carrots next time but it was very good! There seems to be a lot of benefits to juicing. I am learning a lot through talking with people and researching on my own. It is exciting to try something new and I really hope I can get my family to enjoy it with me :)
