We were at my sister in law's on Boxing day (December 26th which is a stat holiday here in Canada) and the weather turned nasty. it was snowing and blowing and so we called a few people at home (we live about an hour away from her) and they said the weather was worse here at home, so we decided to stay over night. of course, we were not prepared to stay over night. had no extra clothes with us or anything like that. i generally take a number of pills and have a cpap (which helps me breathe at night because i slow down in my breathing and don't get enough oxygen) but had to do without all of that. hubby and i ended up sleeping on an air mattress on the floor (not the most comfy) and i probably only got about 5 hours sleep (as did hubby). fortunately, we were able to come home the next morning though. has something like this happened to you? i was really tired (i also have walking pneumonia, which i found out yesterday) so i ended up having a really long nap after we got home. i also felt sort of gross because i didn't have any anti antiperspirant with me or anything like that.

I went to some party - don't remember what it was for, but it was a costume party and it started sleeting. I ended up driving home about 2 a.m. because I just didn't want to try and spend the night with only my costume to wear in the morning...

ya, that would have looked funny the day after and i am sure you would have gotten some strange looks while driving home the next day if you had stayed over night!

I was supposed to go to my cousin's in T.O. on Boxing Day, but phoned to cancel. I really didn't want to go out in that weather, much less stay overnight. I had a physio appointment the next day, but cancelled that, too. I'm not going anywhere today, and probably not tomorrow, either. I don't know about my physio appt on Monday.

my mother in law had an appointment for a stress test result on the 27th at 9 which she had to cancel. i imagine it will take some time for her to get another one because he is a specialist.

Yes, we have gotten stuck during our travels. However, we were fortunate to end up stopping at a nice hotel along the way to get out of the messy weather. It wasn't by design that we ended up at that particular hotel, but I certainly did not have any objections to it--especially not once I saw the Jacuzzi.

I actually wish we have a snowy Christmas in the UK but there was none this year. However, I could still remember there was a massive snow two years ago where a lot of international students were unable to take flights back home. I was lucky that it did not happen to me as I have already left the UK a few days before the snow kicked in. Those students had to sleep in the airport for a few days before the weather got better. As for your case, I suggest you should always take extra medication with you just in case you encounter this situation again but hopefully not. Anyway, hope you have a happy new year!

Health is the most important thing in life,so if you really do not feel good you no need to go out even it is the boxing day,and I think that they will understand you. But as for me,there are snow in Christmas will add up the festival atmosphere, and I really can not understand that how those people live in southern hemisphere celebrate their Christmas because in the Christmas season is the hottest season in their countries.

well, that is the thing about his family, well, at least his sister and her hubby, they don't understand and think you are faking it most of the time.

It's horrible being stranded somewhere, knowing you have no choice but to stay there, frustrating too, I am glad you got home ok. We were fortunate in that we didn't have any snow over the holiday, we just had the rain, unfortunately some parts of my country have had major problems with flooding, and some villages and towns have actually been cut off due to rivers bursting their banks. I bet the first thing you did when you got home was to jump into the shower?

I don't use a CPAP machine. But I've been stuck unexpectedly with someone who does use a CPAP machine and didn't have it to sleep with. I was up all night with their snoring. The CPAP kept them from snoring, and without it the snoring was so bad it gave me a migraine. I kid you not. I didn't want to kill them. I wanted to kill myself.

Many years ago my mom and dad had Christmas.....well it started snowing and blowing and the temps dropped so much that many of the cars wouldn't start. It was a hoot! We had so much fun! There were people sleeping all over the living room floor like you would at a sleep over. The next day I made pancakes for a good hour to feed everyone....it is still my record for the most pancakes I have ever made on one day! I have also slept on one of the air mattresses....my brother had one for me on their basement floor (the rooms are all done very nicely) and it seemed that the mattress picked up the cold from the cement. I didn't get warm all night!

I came from South Dakota at 31 to Arozona then California and I never did go back to my home state.Sick of snow and blizzards.Once when I wa s in my twenties we were stuck in snows drifts on highway 212 and saw this little house with lights which tu rned out to be a country school and the teacher was there so we could use her phone. My dad called his favorite mechanic who came in his large truck with the snow plow on it and rescued us and got us home where my little sister and my granddad were waitng.

my hubby jacked up my pillows so i could sleep better which helped. i don't mind the snow but not too much of it. i have heard that this year (maybe because we didn't get much snow last year?) is supposed to be a hard winter (with lots of snow i imagine!)

I can only think of one time in my life that the weather didn't allow me to go home when I wanted to. It was when I was nineteen years old and I'd gone to my best friend's home that was about an hour away from home. It started to freezing rain, but I was going to go home anyway until her father told me that the roads were too bad for me to drive and that I needed to just call my mother and tell her that Ray said that I wasn't allowed to come home because of the bad roads. My mother was very unhappy with me because that meant that I was not only spending the night with my best friend, I was spending the night at my boyfriend's house as well.

I've had this happen a few times, in the past. A few times I ended up driving through the horrible weather to get home. I remember this one time we had our staff meeting at my last job, they did't care that I worked other jobs, and didnt sleep, I had about an hour of sleep in 48 hours, then after this meeting they expected me to work 12 hours. Another lady said she would come in at 4am so I could go home, it was blwoing and snowing so bad, I pulled over and had a nap on the side of the road.

To be honest i don't like snow....2 days a go, snow was thick on the street and then it is raining...i had to walk on the street that looks like i walked in box ice water, i think and it is easy to slip..it took me 30 minutes for walking from my house to the lab while normally i just spend 15 minutes only.

Hi Cher! I always hear a lot of terrible stories about their experience with snow. I really think snow is great since I haven't experienced it myself. I live in a tropical country...so I believe I should consider myself lucky. Anyway, I am happy that I haven't experience those sleepover unprepared. I wish it won't happen to me. And hope things are well with you. Happy mylotting!!!

Well it didn't happened to me for anything unexpected. Yeah but a few planned night stay I could say for sure. Nevertheless I can understand you but at last doesn't matter what happened you have to be grateful to them for allowing you to stay. What happens if you were not able to sleep properly but you had some place and many others to relax you. Well hope you read it when you wake up, so good morning. Hope you now had a nice sleep.
