desktop screen recorder free software?

I made an account in livestream just recently, and I also made one in join.me so I can let my friends see me draw in my computer through the internet, but the latter was quite complicated so I chose the former to use instead. However, I don't really have the best internet connection at all, the internet speed is way beyond the minimum bandwidth for livestream so my videos were usually cut off to 3 min videos. And now, I was hoping if anyone knows a free software that lets you record the activities in your desktop, I tried CamStudio before, but it didn't really go well with my PC. So do anyone of you know any free software or had a first hand experience with a free screen capture software? If yes, would you be so kind to respond to this discussion to help me out? There are alot of screen recording softwares one of them is Snagit this program has versions that are free and other version that are paid Snagit v5 is free and anyone can download it, I personally use snagit v10 but i got it for free. Other screen recorders ypu might want to try such as BB flash express, Screen to video, Wink and camstudio Hope that helped
