In about 8 hours from now, we will be celebrating the New Year. We prepare some foods for the whole family to partake when midnight comes tonight. But before eating we usually would play with the sparklers (for the women) and the whistling bombs and the like (for husband and brother in law). Mother-in-law will be banging her "kalderos" as she goes around the house. Then, it's Media Noche! Do you guys also practice Media Noche?

I think not for Pinoys only, but for all people who celebrated it. Yeah, mother-in-law threw coins on the rooms and all around the house.

Time seems so fast for me in here. It was just a week when we were celebrating Christmas Day and now we are awaiting for New Year to arrive. We would just be celebrating it quite simply tonight. We are a small family and back here in the Provinces we celebrate it rather quietly with no noise or banging of something. We just wait for midnight to come and eat a meal and greet each other a happy new year and after that we rest for the night. By Jan 1 we also have to go back to Manila again so we really have to retire early so that we can wake up early tomorrow to be able to catch our bus to Manila. I am feeling rather happy celebrating the day and sad that we would again be leaving this peaceful and happy place and be back to Manila to work again. Another challenging year is about to begin.

well at least you get to celebrate these occasions with the family, rsa. It's really sad though that you have to travel back to Manila on Jan. 1. Happy New Year to you and your family, rsa!

Yeah I guess thinking back it is good enough I was able to come home since Dec. 22. We were able to get to celebrate Christmas and New Year with them. I think it is but natural to feel sad when you realize that your long vacation was over already. I have no choice but to really travel on Jan 1 since Jan 2 was back to normal work again. Getting bus back to Manila is really hard to find to get the best time to travel so we have to get the day trip.

Our family did it with every year but a very silent night. We celebrated with different kind of foods and liquors. Tomorrow, we will be closed in our shop so time to relax.

So just like you mother-in-law also scatter coins inside our rooms and all over the house. I was teasing her that we will also be getting only coins for the New Year because of that.

Well, been busy with work. the position I have as of now is very demanding and stressful...even on restdays which is saturdays and sundays, I have to bring home some workloads in order to cope up. Anyway, inspite of all of it, I'm still thankful because I've been given a 2nd chance to have a job, Thanks be to God

Ooops, sorry, I forgot to share what we do during media noche, we don't usually have fireworks, we just watch our neighbors do so. We usually scatter coins inside our house, they say its for good luck

We ate last night for the media noche. We were full so that we slept at about 2am already. When I woke up at 6am today, I read my sister-in-law's message telling me that they were still awake and the time was past 2am. OMG, why had I slept, they would have been here at that time. Now I asked her to come but she replied that her children are still asleep. So I have to wait for them this morning before going to my other son in Pasig.

Indeed, we also slept at 2pm. Mother-in-law and i have to safekeep all the foods in the refrigerator. I had to wash the used dishes, because i was so full that i want to just stand by washing for about 30 minutes. Some people indeed had a whole night celebration of the New year.

Only very simply Simply. There are only three of us plus three dogs so we don't actually need a lavish media noche. Also, we're dieting and if we again prepare much food for media noche, we would again gain more weight. So we're keeping it very simple and not so greasy.

I guess, if there is only the 3 of you, then a simple set of foofs will do my friend. What is important is that the family is together, with your 3 dogs.

Wow, it was so very good to hear how the new year is brought in all over the world. But most important is that we also see that we make the new year 2013 a better place for all of humanity to live in.

Yeah, that's right. What is important is that everybody is eager to have some good changes on their lives for the new year.
