What to expect from the coming Star Wars 7, 8 and 9?

Hello everyone, A couple of months ago Disney has bought LucasFilm, LucasArts included. I thought this piece of news was quite interesting, but I was even more excited when I read Disney decided to continue the story with 3 whole new episodes. To be honest I was hoping there would be another prequel instead of a sequel since I prefer the ''lightsaber fighting jedi's'' to return. I'm curious how they are going to continue such a story with 3 whole new movies. So basically I was wondering what you guys expect from these new episodes? How do you want it to continue? Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Oh, for the love of all that is holy, PLEASE let this be rumour. George Lucas has always said that episodes 7-9 are pointless. The original 3 (Episodes 4-6) were made first because they were the best bit of the story; the second 3 (Episodes 1-3) were made to cash in on the continued popularity and - apart from Jar Jar Binks - actually had a point to them. The final 3 have already been covered by all the official books and other publications that followed the original 3 films. This means that either Disney will simply be making films based on the books (which wouldn't be SO bad, although I suspect they'll inundate the content with cutesiness and other such vomit) or that they'll be rewriting everything that's already accepted as the official version... and that would cause a HUGE outcry in the fan base. Either way, I just wish they'd leave the franchise alone. Given Disney's track record in films, they'll just ruin an otherwise excellent idea.

gee..i about to say the same thing or similar..but u said it first... adding here... But..for that disney part u were saying...sometimes..they do innovate and pioneered..certain things.. example..special effects using computers.was pioneer by Disney..TRON...and extremely successful adventure films..that is lots of fun and excitement in them..example PIRATES OF THE CARIBEAN ..all four. so hopefully they doing something good to a film franchise that shaped Hollywood..and lucasFilm.

Why do you think that Disney would add cutesiness to the series? Disney isn't just family friendly animation, it owns a huge chunk of the entertainment industry. Like Marvel comics, Touchstone Pictures, and ABC. You don't think Lost or Grey's Anatomy are cutesy, do you? Those are owned by Disney.

Seriously??? ABC..Marvel COmics? Touchstone?? u must be kidding... even if Disney owned them.. most times..theres no Disney's logo came up during credits.. i think only those films that they primely funded will get the cutesy..lol..like PIXAR etc...or MGM/Disney co-operation.

Lucas's comments about about a possible three more movies have struck me as being strange over the years. Initially when the first two movies came out, there a number of stories written about a trilogy of trilogies. According to Lucas' biographer in the '80's, there were actually TWELVE stories that Lucas had written. Lucas later strangely denied that there were to be more than 6 movies. Possibly he was concerned about the cost and amount of time it took to make the versions I through III. Originally, the seventh movie was to take place 20 years after the sixth in Star Wars time. Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher supposedly met with Lucas last summer to discuss episode VII and Harrison Ford is said to be willing to come back. Things seem to be movie fast toward another movie as there are reports that the script has already been written. One thing to be assured of, although Lucas no longer owns the rights to future movies, he will still be involved in their production as long as he lives so that should help.

One reason Lucas gave up on making the final three films was that he started getting burned out while still making the first three films.

Thanks for the interesting story. I fully agree that Lucas will still be involved in the production of these movies. Quite suprising that there were twelve stories written. It's just that I think that it might be more interesting to produce a prequel, but I'm still very curious to the results of the sequels.

I like Star Wars. I find it pretty cool the way it was made starting at the end portion. It is classic and I hope they just keep it that way. If they want to make another sci-fi film then it is better if they come up with something new. A new plot, new characters. I hope they just leave Star Wars alone.

That could be the case, although Lucas will also be partly involved in the production of these new episodes. I think aslong as he will be part of the production, the movies will still be enjoyable and maybe even suprisingly good. But I must somehow agree with you that there might be a chance Disney disappoints us.
