Aww this a very cute poem! I like the simplicity yet realistic of the poem. I agree what you wrote in here and very true. Forgiveness, acceptance and moving on are the main keys. Not trying to be perfect but be a better person.. Hope you write more poems and share it here. Happy 2013;-) P.S I love the note haha

Hmm, it's strange that I don't like poems that much but managed to come up with one out of the blue. I notice there are many heart broken people out there some of them still have not moved on, so this I want to share. It's a painful experience in which everyone can learn from and become stronger and better persons because of it.

I like the poem and the conclusion - it is said that you cannot love anyone until you learn to love yourself. I would add one more piece of advice to those recovering from a broken heart - do not keep re-living the relationship or the parting. When you start thinking back discipline yourself to think of something else. This is hard at first but it gets easier with practice and time. Soon you will realise that you are on the way to forgetting that anyone broke your heart.

Thank you for the additions combedale! It is true, how can we learn to love someone else if we don't love ourselves first? I see some people forget themselves and give all their love to one person while they should have loved themselves as well. In romance movies, I think they show people unconditional love and passionate love. These are noble kinds of love but not entirely practical.

Thank you ladygagama, the last two lines were the most important. It is intended to add the impact to those people who might have forgotten to love themselves. Loving ourselves is best, it's the kind that won't disappoint and we need most. When there's no one else to love us, we begin to become stronger by giving ourselves that love. However, having too much of it and forgetting to love others is already 'NARCISSISM' Thank you maria! No problemo! I have already found my love and we have been together for 5 years. He really helped me learn to love again and move on, become a better person! I want others to experience this kind of love too.

It will heal but heart breaks leave scars. Those scars are reminders for us, they remind us that we are stronger than before.

Yes you are absolutely right. It takes more time to heal when the love you lost is true and real. May be it will never heal. It's really hard to forget someone who was everything in your life. As far as I am concerned I will never try to heal the wound as it gives me a chance to remember her even though it pains a lot.

I have a friend who is still not over her ex. She was taken for granted by the guy and she was so hurt. I wanted her to get the message of this poem too, because she needs to realize that by denying her pain and by trying to forget, she's thinking about him more than necessary. It takes time to heal. She said that she will be single for awhile. I think that is best for her at the moment. She needs to regain most of her self esteem back. She's pretty and wonderful but she doesn't seem to realize this. Some people can't completely move on. I don't think it is bad as long as it doesn't affect their lives in a negative way.

There is no deny that you are a good writer. The poem is so brave and lovely. Time tells, it is true. A breakup can ruin our life temporarily, but we can learn a lot from it. Just be brave and embrace all the things. Time will tell.
