My profession is far from what I took up in college. I feel that some subjects are not very useful actually but they're part of the curriculum so I don't see it as a waste of time.

I am, at least that is what i feel. i have been using what i have learned in college in my current job and that is a blessing, because it is very rare that people do that, right? :D i have studied systems analysis and design.. and that is what our work in here too, how we deal with projects, creating process flows, etc. so it is not wasted, what i have learned in college, mostly.

I am. I have a Master's degree in elementary education. I use the knowledge the I gained from earning my degree in my business and the mere fact that I have a Master's degree allows me to be in somewhat high demand at the college where I teach. I'm considering continuing to a possible Doctorate's degree.

I hear you. A lot of my recent graduate friends (with bachelor degrees) do not know what to do with themselves after being done with school. They are looking for jobs, since graduating in the summer and even over a year ago. So, it's kind of discouraging. I think people just jump into going to college without thinking of what kind of degrees they want, and ones that will correllate not just with their interests but also with an actual career outside of school. But what degrees actually merit jobs? It seems as though a degree of any sort is not just a ticket to a career. Work experience still seems very very necessary, especially in a sad economy like ours. Oh well.

No my BS degree was not a waste of my time because I majored in Education and I got a degree in teaching. I'm glad I did. I think I was lucky because now they are not hiring teachers in Los Angeles because the schools are not getting enough money. I consider myself lucky. I started out substituting at the time because they needed substitutes very badly. Then I finaslly got s full time job.
