Im looking to kind of compare costs for music lessons. I am pricing out violin lessons for my daughter and where I live they want 25 dollars a half hour. That seems like a lot to me. What do other people pay for music lessons.

Where I live on Long Island, $25 per half hour is a little high. I give guitar lessons for $25 an hour and I'm at the low end. I've seen most music lessons run from $30 - $40 an hour. $15 - 20 for half hour.

I don't remember how much money the piano lessons I took were because I wasn't paying for them. I volunteered at the church my dad went to and played hymns and special songs every single week in exchange for free weekly piano lessons. They were maybe 45 min long lessons once a week for a total of maybe 9 culminated in a recital or two. I think each term was over 440 dollars with went on for a year and a half. Perhaps your daughter can find a band or orchestra that will give her lessons for free such as through the school. Music lessons are really expensive but they are super helpful. I should hire a vocal and piano coach since I want to become a musician.
