His scalp is flaky all the time and he washes his hair every second night. The dermatologist told him its stress and prescribed shampoo and cortisone. I told him to stop using the cortisone tablets for I do not think it can be good. He has been using it for a year now.

There are a few natural remedies for dandruff. Here are some links that might help www.enrichgifts.com/Natural-Deep-HAir-Conditioning-with-Coconut-Oil-s/114.htm http://earthclinic.com/CURES/seborrheic_dermatitis.html and www.findhomeremedy.com/herbal-remedies-for-dandruff/ Some of the remedies call for apple cider vinegar. Organic ACV works better because the natural enzymes in it have not been removed by the pasteurization process. Many times dandruff is caused by a fungus. I hope you find something here that helps.

You're welcome! I hope the ACV is organic. If it's not it might not work. I know people who've used it for other remedies and one guy used regular ACV and said it didn't work. Glad I could help. Well, maybe. We'll see how much help I was if something works.
Good luck! And thanks for commenting!

I dont think I would want to use the cortisone tablets either. I dont like to use any products that I do not have to. I had dandruff for awhile and so I bought anti-dandruff shampoo I think it was by head and shoulders. I used it for along time because I didnt want the dandruff to come back and it ruined my hair. It took the dandruff away but it made my hair so brittle it was breaking right off.

Dandruff is something that is very common and I really don't think that there is any kind of a cure for dandruff. This is something that my husband has suffered from since before I met him. There are times that he is able to get it somewhat under control by using a shampoo that has tar in it. However, it is never complete under control. I've also noticed that it is definitely the worst when the seasons change from warm to cold or from cold to warm.
