"Can I borrow your spouse for one night?"

How would you react if someone asks you this question at your front door, in the middle of the night, under the pouring rain? Would you let this person in? Would you agree to this absurd request? Me? I'll probably look for a shot gun or kick that person away. What else could this line mean? This line almost always proves that this person is the heinous mistress! or your spouse other man!

Hi Aja! I think no one will make such a request to me. Even if anyone makes I will ask him various questions to know what made him make such a request. I think this kind of thing may happen in fiction only but not in real life.

Agreed. Nothing is impossible in this world. Have you ever come across any crazy, delusional and desperate fellow in your life?

Hmmm.... let's see... Yes! I have been like that before. But it wasn't about a lover though, it was about this anime character I really really really really love!!!!! I love L!!!!!

It can easily happen in fiction but I don't think it is entirely impossible that it will happen in real life too. You know how many crazy, delusional and desperate are there in the world right now? Too many to count!

I don't know how I would react but if I am in a dreamland I'd think that this person infront of my door is someone from the future who has mission in my present. Without knowing it, my spouse could also be someone from the future who re-lives the past (which is now my present) over and over. Better yet, I could be the future me infront of the door asking for my past husband who is re-living our life together.. Haha, my mind is running away right now, sorry for the absurdity. But in real life, what the heck! I would instantly punch her face and bite her fingers! Haha! Kidding! Or maybe not! Happy New Year Aja!

Hi Aja! Yeah, we haven't bumped into one another here in mylot lately. I guess because I was away for most of the latter part of last year. The Holidays were great! I enjoyed the Christmas and New Year! .. but now back to normal! How was your holiday? Your imagination seems to be quite active as well.. Who would have thought that someone in the middle of the dark, outside the pouring rain, is bound to ask for your partner! Have your read that somewhere or maybe seen in a movie? Cheers!

Oh, happy new year, girl! I haven't seen you in mylot in a while. How are you? You've got such an active imagination right there, LOL, that would make a good novel. However, the chances of that happening is close to 1% haha, violence is our immediate thought however it might be best to ask the person first what is going on and maybe it just someone who wants to do a prank on you... or maybe that woman just arrived at the wrong place.

Yeah, I noticed that you weren't around much until now. No worries though, I was also not active until october last year! Nowadays, since I don't have a job yet, I have a lot of free time and I can check mylot everyday! My holidays were... boring LOL, but there was food so it's all good. I was stuck substituting for a friend of mine at work because she has to go to her family reunion in some other province. Haha, this is from my boyfriend's head. Maybe he's seen it in a movie? I don't know. My boyfriend is very imaginative, more imaginative than I am.

Oh well, sorry my spouse is already taken by another woman -or I should say, by other women (lols) I heard this line from the movie "One more try" and honestly I found it very dramatic and traumatic. It takes a saint to absorb a wish like that

I haven't watched the movie either...I am not into drama as well (and most of all it depends on the actors and directors) I won't mind watching Nicolas Cage's movies -hehehee I prefer documentaries and true life based stories.

hai, Nicolas Cage is a great actor! He can play both the good and the bad guy! It's amazing! I like his national treasure movies! Uh, drama, it depends also on how the story is delivered and how the actors acted. If it is a love drama it bores me and it won't bring me to cry. However, I do like dramas like "every child is special" and the "3 idiots!"

LOL so many dramatic and traumatic love stories. Maybe the movie lines are good? I don't know since i don't watch them, I'm just not into drama. A saint? haha, too kind! I don't think a saint would give in that easily either. Sure they would give the person and comfort them.

I would be quite shocked.. but of course i would not react hat easily and ask why or for what she would like to borrow my husband for. Maybe she has a good reason for it, especially if that she is a friend of the family.. But of course there's be suspicion..

Sure, we have to consider a lot of things before acting in rage. Let's say this person is the person you recognized as your husband's admirer or mistress even. That'd be very dangerous.

OH, if that is the case.. i might get angry, just seeing her face. Mistresses who even dare to show their faces, and in my house too, they can really make your blood boil.

They make us do terrible things. But they are the bad guys. Why do mistresses tolerate being a mistress and expect love in return? That's just delusional and selfish, don't you think?

Well, no way, you can't have my husband for one night or ever!! Now, I have said "Can I borrow your husband for a minute?" I wanted to talk to my supervisor outside and in the open where we would have a little privacy. I did not have any romantic ideas, believe me! Oh my, how things can get twisted. Heck no though, if someone wants my husband, I'll just have to come along too. Maybe she wanted help with a tire or something like that.
@Aja103654 (5646)
• Philippines
3 Jan 13
Yes, let's take that into consideration. If she added 'for a minute' then that most certainly mean that she won't borrow for long, maybe a manly task she needs help and that. But the situation here said 'for one night' This line actually came from a movie(I haven't seen yet, but people talk about it a lot) and it was spoken by the husband's mistress. Desperate mistress, it's freaky!

Woah, scary! I understand how you feel though. I did provide the shotgun idea hahaha! Doesn't always mean your husband has a mistress. Maybe the mistress is the only one who is obsessed with your husband. Things like this should be verified with the husband. It's better to observe his actions rather than assume. You don't want to look like the bad guy.

It's getting dangerous around here. I think I would have more trust in my husband than that.

This is as absurd as it gets. Though my first reaction was 'how/why do I know this person?'. It is rather unexpected, more so shocking, if such a preposterous demand is ever made. Another thought that crossed my mind was why would someone want my spouse for a night. Is he actually involved in the scheme of things? Dubious Devilish Dog! Rest assured, anybody daring to ever pull this stunt on me will probably bare my brunt AFTER my devious mind stops playing games with me.

Manuja calm down. If you want, I can let you borrow some weapons. Just kidding! fannekhan, good point. haha The scene is indeed absurd. My eyebrows raised so high after my boyfriend asked me this question. I couldn't quite believe anyone would ever be able to do a stunt like this, but then again I think of all the crazy people in the world and concluded that the chances of this event happening is not that impossible.

I would look at that person like they were psycho and probably slam the door in their face without a word. I'd be like hell no you can't borrow my husband he isn't out for loan. Although there have been times that I would like to get rid of him for a couple of hoursJust kidding, but really if someone came to my house in the middle of the night, I'd slam the door in their face.

LOL, maybe you ought to ask how much the mistress is willing to pay? Then maybe we will reconsider. That's a joke too. I'm quite possessive as well, so there's no way I'd share my husband with someone else.... unless I don't love him anymore, or if we don't have kids, or if he's such a jerk not worth keeping.

*The police arrives and the person at the door clarifies. I am in trouble. My door is locked from outside. I want someone to climb through the window and open the door for me. I am sorry, very sorry. I am happily married but my husband is out of station. (Matter clarified and all is well!) Thank God!

With reference to your topic discussion, if I will only based my conclusion on the main topic itself, I would not definitely allow this situation to happen. However, if there is a more heavy and reasonable reason behind, then, I would weight the situation and conclude after it. Perhaps, concluding merely on the situation is not advisable but as you go along and dig deeper, there you will find out what is the best thing to do.

This is more like from a movie line. In real life I doubt if there is truly a mistress who'll come knocking at your door just to ask you something this absurd!

I dunno if it was the Eskimos but apparently there's a tribe in the world where it's natural for the husband to give her wife to a guest for pleasure keeping. God, I just forgot which tribe it is. _

My boyfriend mentioned that too. ^_^ He only said eskimos. To refuse someone else's spouse is considered disrespect to them, I think.

Chances are it would be someone that I knew and it would be there way of asking him to do something around their house. if it is pouring rain, I would assume that the car has broken down and they just assume that you do not know how to fix a car. In that case A) I do not like the rain and B) they would be right, I know nothing about cars other than to drive them from place to place.

Even so... that person could have asked for help not ask for your spouse for the night. Anyone who asks me that request would be very suspicious. There are better words to use than that if one is actually asking for help.

I would slap them to be honest! I am not an open person when it comes to sharing my husband. I might ask them if they want to borrow the dogs instead! My dogs would have a field day with them! Lol. I have had women ask for my husband when they have an issue with something because my husband can fix anything with a house or a car BUT that's happened during the day and I knew who they were and where they lived...
@Aja103654 (5646)

Haha, I know how that feels loving. You really love your husband very much this is a natural reaction. Exactly! If it's not an emergency and not in the day, then this is certainly suspicious. It's bad manners and very thick to ask for someone's else's husband for 'one night' No way, I can only understand what that one night means.

I will tell the person , he is not a thing to be borrowed but he is a person deserved to be respected , like you ,like him we all deserve to be respected. Then i will ask him to leave and close the door. It is so dangerous to stay long talking to this kind of person because from her request alone we can tell that she don't sound well . It is safer to keep away from this kind of people.
