Dream Interpretations

Are dream interpretations ever accurate? Or can they be compared to having your future predicted by a fortune teller? Are they so vague that they can fit into anyone's life if they are looking for it to? I've looked up a lot of dream meanings and many of them fit my life, but then the skeptic in me comes out. Also, can dream journals actually capture a dream? Do you need to be an experienced writer to truly make the dream seem interesting on paper? I can barely stand to LISTEN to someone describe their dream; would it be better to read it? Would I be able to see it better in my head, or would it still come out as a big string of thoughts, riddled with a bunch of backpedaling in the story? Surely, these questions have been pondered throughout the ages, but I'm wondering now, on the heels of waking up in the middle of a dream.

Dreams can be very interesting. At one time I was quite intrigued by my dreams. They were very adventurous and some were very bad nightmares. It can be boring listening to someone tell of a dream. Some people are good at storytelling and can make it interesting. I've told a few people about some of my dreams. I wondered if it bored them. Some friends have said that my dreams were really weird. One person asked me if I wasn't afraid to go to sleep after some of the dreams I'd had. I guess you can put meaning to them, like astrology. Who knows? There certainly is a lot of studying done about the realm of dreams.

Yeah, you have to wonder why they are so weird, and sometimes so terrifying. And being a good storyteller probably helps if you want to share a good one. I wouldn't say I'm good, so when I can't resist, I break it down to like 5 sentences, short and sweet hehe

Those little details are what I meant about backpedaling. You're telling the story and inevitably, you have to say, "oh and I forgot this part..." I think "c'mon get to the point" but I never say it! That -is- rude.

I'm not a good story teller. I tend to get too into the details. I try not to but it just happens. It seems like some little stuff is really important or the person won't understand it. My brother's the only one who's ever been rude about it. He'll interrupt and say "C'mon, c'mon, just get to the point will ya?" And yes, they are so weird and really scary sometimes. I only had one that was so bad it woke me up.

I have believed that the way the dream presents itself depends on what kind of life the person is experiencing at the moment. Dreams are representation of certain events or things in any one's life. Our mind is so powerful that we can make something out of anything when we are presented with a single thought or a word.

I find that to be true, making something out of anything. I always like hearing a fire truck or tornado siren in my dream, only to wake up and find my alarm is going off lol

There are many dreams interpretation in the internet. Some people buy numbers (sort of like Lotto) in Malaysia example Magnum, 4D and Toto after they dream. There is book with 3 or 4 numbers given for everything that you dream like flower, horse etc. My son and I like to tell each other about our dreams, some are very suspense that we want to make it into movies..

Yes they are if you know what kind of dream you had (there are about 3-4 different types). If you know how to read them. I kept a dream journal for a long time and it did work for/with me. You do not need to be an experienced writer. Start with this: paper and pencil next to your bed, tell yourself to wake up as soon as you dream and write it down (I did it half a sleep) go back to bed and continue sleeping. You will be amazed about what you wrote down (no need to write whole stories/lines).

Did it help you in any way, or was it just a fun project?

I usually pray about the interpretation of my dream. And in time I would know the meaning of my dream. However, not all dreams have meaning some are the result of our unconscious mind.

I definitely hope some of them have no meaning because they are terrible!

I think dreams are just random thoughts. Things that may be bouncing around your subconscious. My dreams are quite bizarre and tend to change form minute to minute. It might start in one place and end up in another or star out with some people and end up with others...and there doesn't seem to be much continuity. I don't think there is anything real about dream interpretations. I think you have it right comparing it to fortune telling or even psychics. It's so vague that anyone could find aspects of their lives to relate it to.
