Truly not worth to deposit your money at those big banks

I am pointing out with those big banks, whatever products they are trying to sell to you, it is totally not worth it. I had account with one of the big banks, which are Bank of America; Wells Fargo; Chase; not mention they will charge you fee on your checking account if you don't their criteria; with their money market account, or fast saving account, you must maintain a minimum balance daily, or they will charge you $10 - $20. My best bet, if you can't meet their criteria, take your money to somewhere else, especially credit union, or some of those online banks. I felt like it was just not the way it suppose be. We deposit our hard earn money in the bank, and in return, they are trying to take more advantage of you.

I think as long as you can abide by their terms of service, you should bank there. I have friends who never ever overdraft and keep a good balance in their account and never have ANY problems with 'big banks'. But for people with spending problems, or people's accounts who dip a little lower... Definitely hit up a credit union. I had an account with a big bank called TCF Bank - I don't know if it's country-wide, but I overdrafted for two charges of $2 or something and I was hit with over $150 of overdraft fees. This is how they make their money, though. I now bank with a credit union. I don't overdraft, I actually have it set up to have my debit card declined if I don't have sufficient funds, so that's good. But when I do overdraft, it's a lot less painful at the credit union than it was at the bank.

I bank with B of A. I'm fortunate enough that I still have enough to meet their minimums. It's a good deal for me. They're close and convenient. But I agree with you. If you don't have the minimum, it really would be a better idea to check some of the other smaller banks. Might not get all the frills, but you don't lose either.
