i was reading the news regarding some people in the Catholic sect wanting to bring the issue of the RH bill to the highest court.. why would they not give up? i guess they just cannot see the goodness in this, they think it is something that could mess up morality.. but then this is the most moral thing to do..to stop other people from making more children into this world to which they would just leave unfed, they would leave outside churches, in the garbage, on the streets!! for crying out loud them people could not really see it. Plus there is a fine line between the Church and the government! why mess it up? or is it already a thin line now which we really could not see? it is frustrating when the government just wants some progress in this aspects. oh well... tsk tsk.

What made me wonder is why the Catholic church is getting a lot of involvement with the government laws- Ours is a democratic country and from what I understand there is a separation between church and government rules. The RH Bill is not about killing unborn children or legal abortion- but prevention of unwanted pregnancies.. Unless the Catholic church will adopt all those abandoned children then that would be a great reason for the church to oppose with the RH Bill. Not to mention that the church is not teaching the youths strict morality. Sorry guys..(just my opinion)

@ jeanney and jazel, Thank you guys. Hope the Church consider a lot of things behind this bill. This is a new era where kids are exposed to the internet world. Parents don't have a complete control with their kids once they're out of sight. And we all know that no parents want their kids to have unwanted pregnancies- the worse is resorting into abortion due to fear of having pregnancy at an early age. We all know that we cannot hide s*x information from our kids anymore, therefore teaching them, giving them wide information is the best answer to avoid getting themselves into s*x. The more we restrict kids, the more they got curious with things. It is a common knowledge too that the poorest families have the biggest number of kids here in our country -really sad...:(

I read somewhere that the church still considers itself the moral authority of the people. How truthful that statement in reality remains to be seen and differ from one person to another. I guess the church is secretly hoping that being a Catholic still pulls soemtihng in this country/society. personally, I am a Catholic but I am also an intellectual which is kinda not the type of audience that the Church wants.

I never like to see any government being swayed by religion to govern and the Catholics should know well enough to stay where they are. Philippines is Philippines and the country should not be coerced into becoming another Vatican City. I do not see the reason for their stance other than the fact that they are stirring up unnecessary defiance. It is sad to see that the religious leaders here have left their spiritual knowledge and teachings about obeying a country's sovereign laws. I hope that this will not become protracted and end up into another mass public outcry demonstration. Surely, there must be something better to do and obviously they (Catholic leaders) are not doing it. Perhaps the people should remind them of their civic responsibilities and duties as Philippines national even when they are Catholics.

Perhaps most of them needs some reminders but then again they would say this is a democratic country and they could say what they want..

I am also Catholic and pro RH Bill/Law. It seems to me that a lot of people are unclear about the Constitutional mandate of the separation of church and state.I wish people would be more open-minded -- plus they must open their eyes to see the predicament of so many Filipinos. Not everybody is living comfortably. Women and children are suffering for lack of choices and lack of information. Further, I bet there are those who are anti-RH Bill who have not even read it yet.

True, a lot does not know the whole content of the bill and when i found out about the whole rh thing last year, i went online and immediately got a copy of it and read it myself and i did not find anything wrong it.. a bit of worry though is the usage and control of funds for it.

So true! I definitely agree with you! These people think that they are morally upright! As if they don't have traces of dirt in their faces! If they think that they are morally right, then, they should help the government in the problems of rugby boys and girls roaming in the streets who are shirtless and who begs for money in order to buy foods and vices. What can they say with our neighbors who keeps on bearing shoplifter children since they could not afford to give them proper education?

They have every right to whatever they want even it infuriates the govenrment and the public. That's democracy and even the religious have that right. However, let us pray that so me of the clergy will understand soon that there is free will this bill- the same free will given to us by God when he created man. I hope that somehow and some day the Church will also acknowledge that.

I am a Catholic but I agree with RH Bill. I believe in this new policy and I hope that this would stop our society in having too much unwanted children. I agree with you, the Catholic Church only sees this new law as immorality but we cannot blame them. I think they will never really give up and even if this law has been finalized and implemented, they will still look for other way to stop it.

Here in India there was a move to introduce a uniform civil code which is still hanging fire and rightly so. There are so many opinions on so many aspects which are based on religion. And as long as religion wins over government thinking nothing much can be achieved.

The only thing that the church allows is abstinence or the safe period method and with the menstrual cycle being so erratic is this foolproof?

I understand how you feel about it. I am a Catholic but I am not against the RH Bill. I think that it is one solution that can solve the over population in our country. And that it is high time for parents to be responsible in raising their children in the correct way.

I am happy though because we can express what we want. I attended several mass and the topic was RH bill. But its okay. They are also doing their part being the head of the church to give their opinion. This is freedom. What I would not be happy about is that if we cannot anymore say anything against the government. Have a nice day! I am not against this bill.

The good thing about our beloved country is that we have too much freedom in many things that it messes up with more important issues in life. The RH bill will surely have an impact with everybody whether in the Church organization, in the family, and in the government. It is not a way to deter unwanted pregnancies, on the other hand. It will just be one of those laws that our authorities will not truly implement since they can't implement all of our wonderful and great laws of our land. Anyhow, let's see what happens. May God intervene and His will be followed. Good day.
