Fruit jams: an easy task while I mylot.

Jams are not hard to make if you have the fruit. Many people have answered my post about my apricot tree, telling me how wonderful it is that I make jams with the apricots. In fact, it is quite easy. I halve the apricots and use 2/3 or a cup of sugar for 1 cup of fruit. My grandma said it was 1 cup for 1 cup, but I find it too sweet. I place the pot (a thick one) on low and go to my computer I go to stir once in a while, specially at the beginning. By the way, while I write this, I am eating some warm jam I stole from the pot. I make plum and strawberry jam, blackberry (my favorite) and orange with carrot in Winter. What do you do while mylotting? Share

I have never made a jam and just rely on what could be bought at the groceries but the way you made it seem how easy it is to make one I think i have to try doing one with a local fruit in season. My mylotting activity is usually squeezed in between my daily routines and during commercials while watching a tv show that i follow daily.

It seems pineapple jam is a bit different than apricot jam as to measures. I don`t use 1:1 for apricot. It`s much too sweet and it doesn`t taste so good. Check online before making jams to get good ideas.

Jam making is also part of my "during commercials" work. THere are many things that don`t need to be watched while they are being made and most jams fall into that category. I don`t use preservatives so maybe they won`t keep until forever. But they don`t last until forever either

I made a try yesterday by making use of the fresh pineapple fruit that was left untouched since new years day. I diced the peeled fresh fruit into very small pieces and used the 1:1 cup sugar mixture and cook. I'm no good at cooking and result was not at par with what is bought at grocery stores. Need to practice further

If you made such a good jam as I do, with ripe apricots that grow in your backyard, you`d be temped to eat some while you place it in jars.

A friend of mine gave me some very smll jars from beby food. I packed the jam there and they keep sealed for over a year. I put the open jar in the fridge. It keeps for weeks.

Maybe :) But I'll try to eat little for every time. Could I keep the jam in fridge many days?

What kind of games do you play? The only games I play now are some of pogo games online. We are in the middle of Summer here, so my only problem is whether to walk barefooted or not.

I would love to try some. It sounds an easy process to do while you're myLotting so I"m glad you enjoy to do both. I bet it is tasty. I would like not so sweet, also. Today was able to do quite a bit while I myLotted through out the day. I feel very productive for once. Mostly I just do other things online in different sites or I will do some laundry or dishes. I had myLot open almost all day so I know my earnings will be much nicer tomorrow!

I`m afraid I`m a little bit far away from you. We could have share. I love muffins with butter and jam. But I sure would love to visit Mexico again. When I`m down, I listen to rancheras and start being positive again.

While posting every now and then, I did a cashiering in our shop. Most of the day, my siblings and some crew laughed me because the exchange I give to hand over to the costumers are lacking and sometimes I give more. I need to stop reading or posting if I received the cash to avoid mistakes

I guess it`s not a good idea to mylot and handle money at the same time. Cooking is better. I have had potatoes burn while mylotting, but that`s not so terrible. They taste like baked potatoes

hmmmm... jams... yummy... always like jams with my bread. mango, orange, strawberry, guava... it really doesn't matter as i've always had a sweet tooth. lol! anyway, back to the discussion at hand. when i mylot i usually listen to music online. when there is a good basketball or football game on, i would watch the game online as well. sometimes i mylot while working on my other online programs. i would also be browsing at some of my favorite sites while doing mylot. i like to keep myself occupied with different tasks so that i won't get bored easily so doing all these different things while doing mylot suits me well. cheers and happy mylotting!!!

Many times I watch TV while I mylot. Other tmes I listen to music too. But I also like to do something "useful" so I don`t feel too guilty for having fun.

I also like to make jams, I have a mango tree, and a small orange tree, but it has not given me fruits yet, I hope this year, or the next one, I will have some from him. Recently, I ate a jam, made with the flowers of the orange tree, an it was delicious, it is an iranian recipe, I look forward for my tree to give flowers to try. While myloting, I don´t think I do anything special, I don´t like to eat at the comp0uter, 'cos I always make a mess in the desk.

I have never tried orange flower jam. I bet you would need a big orange tree to make it. We only grow mangos in the north of our country so it`s expensive here. I buy a mango once in a while and make the most delicious smoothie. I know what you mean by eating while at the computer. When I smoked, my keyboard was a mess of ashes.

I`m afraid I will only have enough tomatoes to eat in salads this year. I wish I had more room, but in my very small plot I have maybe 4 plants and some other plants in containers.

Nothing as creative as that..lol. I wish I knew how to make that kind of stuff. I have friend at work that makes apple butter and it is wonderful. Oh..he says he makes pear butter too but he hasn't brought any of that in for us to try. I don't know if I will like that as much as the apple butter but it will be neat to try.

That`s about the same thing I do. But I don`t make so many jams now that I live alone. I just make the ones my loved ones like best. I myaelf prefer salty food.

Don't like to multi-task with something on the stove. I made my jam by canning it. After putting on the lids, I turn the jars upside down and soon, they seal themselves. When I lived near blackberry bushes, and could pick berries for free, I used to make blackberry jam with as little sugar as I could get away with. If I have to pay for fruit, it just isn't worth the cost to make jam. I do other household chores but never leave anything on the stove when on the computer. I burnt a kettle dry and learned that it is better if I am always in the kitchen if I leave something on the stove. Safety is important.

Kettles are not noce. I burned several until I discovered the one that whisles until you get deaf. THen, later on in life, I discovered the electric one that turns off as soon as the water boils.

Surprisingly, I have never tried making jam. However, it does sound like it would be fun to try, though. These winter days especially seem to lend themselves to trying such an endeavor. I do different things while I myLot--listen to music, watch television, do laundry, cook. Right now, I'm watching a Frontline episode that I DVRed a while back and am finally getting around to watching.

I also cook and watch TV while mylotting. But now that my apricots are ripe, it`s either do something with them or let them rot. I have become more lazy lately and my youngest daughter bought a deep freezer, so this year I`ll make less jams and give away more apricots on the tree. The young people can come and get them
