Ever since my friend talked with me about going abroad to move my profession to the next level, I started to think that he is right. He has been talking about this for a long time and I just keep on saying yes but no action on my part. Now, I want to make a move. I wanted to transform those dreams into reality. Many of my colleagues noticed that I have been serious lately and always productive at work..I just cannot tell them what is in my head because what I wish is just to tell them once I know that I can go.

Well for me it is material wise, some people think that I am stupid to set my mind on that but it is what keeps me going. My mind is set on owning a lamborghini but not just having the money to buy one, but having the money to buy one comfortably and able to maintain it without stress what so ever. I am a car enthusiast. And as Jamaican child I have to take my dreams overseas because lamborghini has never touched the roads in my country, (its not allowed, its a too powerful car for our bad roads; moreover who would want to damage such a beauty on these tar filled with holes) For every exam i take my mind is saying just another requirement to bring me close to that car. The hope keeps me going and a few people realize that. As a child I do know it is possible that my mind might change in the future but atleast still I have something focusing on. I just finished 12th grade in high school. I was the top official exam performer for my school, now I am trying my best to work into a college in the U.S. to continue my education there. Guess what? Just another requirement for me to receive my lamborghini. What I hate is that some people think I am going into my career just for the money to afford such a luxury vehicle. But the truth of the matter I chose my career long before knowing the rewards that accompany it. I want to be a neurosurgeon. When people ask me what I set my mind on achieving in life i say a lamborghini and what is my goal occupation I say neurosurgeon, the first thing comes to their mind is that I am not serious. That my mind is young. That is the reason I usually keep this to myself. When I am talking to a person with an open mind, I will be willing to share my mind set but with others I just reply "i don't know." In truth of the matter when I say I wanted to be a neurosurgeon, I knew nothing really about lamborghini's. the first year of high school my grades were low and I promise myself I would never disappoint myself like that again and to prove it I would take the most challenging course in life and still excel at it. That is why i chose my pool of science subjects, and my career: a neurosurgeon, because it was another challenge to be passed. As I research more on the career I fell in love with it. As I did science subjects I became a master in them and I got to utmostly love them. So it is not all about money, but still my mind set is at a lamborghini. If i manage to purchase one (seeing that I will ONLY purchase one after achieving certain goals), i will know I am successful.

I salute you Renhard. Those dreams keep us going so we shouldn't forget about our dreams. That was what my friend told me when I shared with him the comments of my other friends' about my plan of working overseas. He told me to never give up and put my trust in God. With Him, nothing is impossible.

I believe your friend is absolutely correct. There are three types of people in this world; People who don't have any goals or dreams, people who have goals and dreams but does nothing to achieve them and lastly people who make an effort to climb the ladder to achieve their goals. I climb and you seem to be a person who climbs as well. You know what I have learnt. If you have a massive idea or plan, don't imagine all of it done because you will get no where tackling every single detail at once. Slice up the goals in different milestones, this way you can manage and track progress. If you keep your mind on growing a forest you might never achieve it. But if you keep your mind on growing a tree everyday you might wake up the month after to see that you actually have grown that forest.

Hi Annierose. My motivation that makes me do my best in whatever I am doing is the lessons I learned from the people who is older than me like, my brother, my sister and my friends and so on. I also learned lesson in my own life like realizing things which I should have done the most first so that I could achieve my dream job in the future. I always set a goal or target on things I wanted to do to motivate myself. Just like when I am a Form 3 student who are going to sit for the exam for PMR if you know what it is. Probably you do know right? Because I am not sure do the other country have such exam besides Malaysia. Alright, during the time when I am a PMR student, I never study before a week or two weeks before the exam. But when it really comes to almost time for the actual exam, I set a target on getting straight A's at least 6 or 7 since I take 8 subjects, and I learned to study a week before the actual exam. After that, I gain experience in my life doing everything in the last minute which I always burn midnight oil on, I tried my hardest to study everyday after school. But sad thing after I went and became a Form 4 student, I hardly do my homework after schools and never study before the last day before the exam. Yes, I failed the three out of four important subjects being a science stream student. I was afraid that I am going to fail in my another new challenge this year, which is SPM exam. So, I am now hoping my new year resolution work on me and try my hardest to study and finish my homework after school everyday so that I am able to get straight A's in the actual SPM exam, if I can. Since I have my target to become a designer, even study science stream's science subjects is actually a waste of time for the one I would love to go for during my university or college year, but after seeing what my sister had work hard for and now studying in KL, I finally found the motivation in me that I wanted to have best result which I realize even though those subjects might somehow a waste of time, but getting a good result for it can eventually get me into the course I wanted to study the most in my university or college year! That is why now, I am trying my hardest to do it for my target to being a whatever designer I can get after the SPM exam of the registration for university or college since my parents can't afford me to go for private university or college. That is why I am now working hard on it. Hopefully, you will be able to be like me, setting yourself a goal or target and make it your motivation on whatever you are doing or you wanted to do. That is the best motivation. Even the experience from people and yourself is also a great motivation for you to go for your dream! Good luck and Go For It!

Thanks for a thorough explanation. There are things that come our way which we consider as not that important but then in the long run we will realize that it is important. Now that I have reached my 28 years, I can say that I have matured enough. I think that gone are those days that I feel like I am a ship with no direction at all. But now, I see light and I can now determine what I really want in my future.

I think what motivates me is knowing that I want to do my best. That I want to be proud of what I have been able to accomplish. In order for that to happen I have to work hard at all the goals that I have for myself. It definitely does take work in effort. I appreciate the fact that no one is in my shoes, no one has lived my life or been through the things that I have exactly the same. So when I do something then I'm proud of myself. Proud that I was able to do it for myself.

Yeah my life hasn't been easy but I know that there are a lot of people who do not have an easy life. So in order for us to reach our goals we have to be motivated ourselves. Most of the time for people who have similar circumstances we don't have family members who encourage us to do our best. Most of the time it is the quit opposite we have those who are negative, belittling, and always try to stump us down. But we don't give up we accomplish our goals and find happiness in doing so.

Don't be sad. I understand what you feel. Anyway, just think of positive things that happen during 2012. It might not be many as you wish it to be but still there were positive things that happened, right? Now is the right time to think how to make a change. Set plans and work hard to achieve what you want.

i am always motivated. i make sure that i don't give up to everything i do because there are lots of consequences that i could suffer if i will do that. i think of ways on how to get motivated and not get bored after all some stuffs are done. “Get out and do something. Move. Interact. Explore. Breathe. Take a chance. Stop voluntarily wasting your life. Stop complaining and saying you’re bored. It’s your life. Do something with it.these quotes are my motivations too.

Now there are many people busy with poverty. I think I am also one of them, though my income is quite good, it is still impossible to afford essential things for a moral life. I have to work hard to have an improvement, so that I will not be fired. I have to learn new things and try to make some creative things to keep my present position. While I can not have enough time and energy to keep a relationship or found my own family. When I was young, my dream was the power to push me forward, but now the money may be the very reason for me to do my best.

We came from poverty too. Thanks God that now, we are moving forward and no longer like before. We can buy everything we need now and even can afford to study more. Being born poor is not a hindrance to success. I believe that as long as we have strong determination, we can cope up with the crisis and just like the others--be a good provider too in the family. I believe you can do same.

At the workplace, what motivates me is the boss. These days, it's hard to get a good boss. Nowadays, the boss can be very cruel. There's boss who push you to reach the quota but you'll get a little pay. There's also a boss who delays your pay until the following month. I'm glad I've got a good one. She sometimes reward me and other colleagues. That's one of the motivation that keep me to continue working at the workplace.

If every boss would be like that, I think that all employees will be lucky. I have been with different kinds leaders. I understand what you have felt. It is not so good to have a leader who only thinks of himself and the company's profit. I hate people like with those attitude as if they were perfect. Anyway, I already forgave those people in my life and I hope that soon they will realize their mistakes.

Well, my motivation in doing my best for whatever I am doing most especially in my career is the high expectation of my parents with me. They did not go to college and so they did their best just to send me to school and finish my studies. And it doesn't end there. I should have something to prove with myself and that is to have at least a good career path that leads to success. I want it to be fulfilled and so I am doing my very best to fulfill it.

That is good kokomo. You are a good daughter for doing what is right. Indeed, your parents are lucky with you because not all daughters have the same thinking as what you have now. Some girls tend to let emotions control them. They have their boyfriend and later on get pregnant or elope with their boyfriend and then just become a burden to their parents.

Thank you for your encouragement Vernac. I have been thinking about it too that if I go to another country, I will be far away from my family. I might make them worried too because actually I don't know how to cook for myself. So I think that once I go to another country, I will be forced to learn how to cook.I am looking forward on this goal and I do pray hard for it to happen.

Hmmmnn, maybe good retirement. I always tell myself to give it all in everything I do especially when it comes to work and business. When I see my parents just enjoying themselves, I always want to be like that when I get old. I know that I can't work forever and have to retire someday so I'm really saving for that. And another thing is the travel thing. I love travelling and I make it a point to travel once a year so when I'm feeling lazy to get up in the morning, I tell myself, you will not see (name of the country) if you just lie here all day.

Thank you so much. I agree with you. We shouldn't be stocked with something if we know we can do more. Life is like a gamble. My friend keeps on saying if I want something I must do everything to work on it or I will have regrets with it.
