I Cut My Hair Short and They'll Use My Hair to Make a Wig

I was feeling sort of depressed yesterday so I decided to cut my hair. I previously had a very long hair because I don't normally cut it unless I feel really distressed. My hair had reached below my hips and it's all black and straight that my friends would tease me "Sadako" or "Witch". I wanted to cut it short so I told the lady who was cutting my hair to do it like a bob cut and want the front to reach 3 inches below my shoulders. She really did a great job and my friends said it looked good on me. However, when she was done, I noticed the my hair were placed aside and was not thrown like what normally happens. She even told her assistant to keep them, even the short ones as the short ones may be used for bangs. I realized that maybe these people also knew how to made wigs! It was fine with me but if I'm not mistaken shouldn't they pay me because it's like their buying my hair? Even if I went there originally for a hair cut, if they were going to keep my hair and use it for something else, would they not have to inform me and at least not let me pay for the hair cut anymore? It's quite funny that I am troubled by this. It's just that somehow I feel cheated.

You could have made money with it that's why you feel cheated. They didn't bother to tell you about it so you won't ask for payment. Some are pretending that they will throw the hair to not give the costumer any idea about their hair becoming a wig or else the costumer will ask their hair back to sell it somewhere.

Exactly. I could have made money. Anyways, do you know how much money can you make from selling your hair?

Thanks for the response. I stopped worrying the hair because it makes me feel agitated whenever I remember someone used my hair and I wasn't paid for it. LOL

It's an interesting question. I think you should have been asked whether you'd like to give them your cut hair to make a wig out of it. I think it's rather unethical to do it sneakily. I think, if the wig was for sale, they should have paid. But if it was for people who have lost hair because of chemo, it's like charity. But either way, they should have asked.

That's what I have been thinking as well doroffee. I hope they don't won't do that to other customers as well. It's like taking advantage of your customers.

They really don't ask because they keep it for themselves and make money out of it unless the costumer is aware about this and have the guts to ask for hair back or sell it to them. But most of the time the costumer doesn't care about it, they're more focused on their new look.

Don't be upset, you just need some time to adjust to your new look. Isn't it much more convenient to handle your hair now? Besides, you look better to have a fresh look. That's a great idea. You shall like it as time goes by.

I was not really upset of my new look. I got upset because they used my hair as a wig and it was already too late when I realized that they should have paid for my hair if they were going to use it as a wig.

I know in the United States if one cuts off a certain length of hair (12 inches at least) then can donate it to an organization called Locks of Love (an organization that makes wigs for young children who have no hair due to medical issues. In the United States if one donates hair they get their hair cut for free or in some places they will get a discount. My friend has donated her hair twice because it grows out fast. I wish my hair will grow out so I can do this.

Yes. That would be better if that was the case. The thing is those people on the salon will use my hair as a wig not for charity but because they are going to sell it to some people. I stopped thinking about it. Anyway, what's done is done. Maybe I won't go to that place anymore.

that's so funny .if i were you ,i will get my hair back and keep it by myself. anyway it can be a kind of souvenir for you have it on your head for such a long time.and ofcourse you can also sell it out by yourself instead of leaving it in the barber shop

I don't think keeping my hair would do. I cut it off because I felt I wanted something new. I was just simply depressed that time because of work and family matters and so I wanted a haircut. If I kept it with me I will be reminded of depressing incidents and problems.

Actually before you take your hair cut you can make a deal with the barber then they will pay for your hair, that is very normal while a for a long hair girl, and you know, the human hair for wig is really expensive these days.

Yes, and so I was informed. I can't get back my hair anymore but I guess I learned. Next time, I'll tell them that they should pay for my hair or maybe I won't go back to the same salon.

I have heard of people growing and selling their hair. I think that they have to sign something up front and agree to certain conditions to ensure that the hair is healthy enough to use for wigs.

Yup. One of the reason why a short hair is better than a long hair. My face is sound though and a long hair fits me better. Anyways, I'll let that salon keep my hair but I guess I won't go back there to have a haircut. I certainly have learned a lesson.

If I have a girlfriend I want my girlfriend with long hair like Sadako that make a men will afraid to disturb her. Haha. I think your hair has been sold to wig makers. It is possible wig makers use real hair as a wig. Hmm you should not have to pay anything to them after cutting because your hair as a payment. Haha.

Yes. You are indeed right. At least that's what I think. Hahaha. I like Sadako but I guess I like Sunako better. Some of my officemates like my new haircut. However, there were a lot of them who like my hair long like before.

You made me smile. Well, I guess that makes sense. If I know how to create wigs then I can earn money using just my hair and some learned skill. Anyways, I'm looking for other part time jobs. My hair grows that long because it grows really fast. That length of hair I was able to obtain only within 5 months.
