I just saw a travel show on tv where they are in Korea and the traditional hotel has no beds and you sleep on the floor. I would not pay to stay there. I prefer a bed for my money.

Well, if I was going to Korea I wouldn't mind sleeping on the floor. When you travel abroad, you want to try new things and have the experience of a lifetime. However, if the hotel rooms in my country didn't have no beds, I would rather stay at home and sleep in my bed. Now, I wonder if the five star hotels in Korea are worth the stay if they don't have beds

Ya its depend on mind of people. PPl who feel that this is an adventure for them, they do join this hotel. For e.g....if you are eating pizza and burger daily you will bored with it after sometime. But when you give that pizzas and burger to beggar at that time when you have bored by eating it daily, they will enjoy it. So doesn't matter what you think. People who love it they will go defintly.

Me also definetly not pay for a hotel where you sleep on the floor. But this a new idea of Hotels to attract customer. By providing or giving some extraordinary facility and by taking away some extraordinary facility they try to become famous. This is some new trick of Hotel industries ri8 now. So people who want to feel that above mentioned your topic they go their to have one ni8.

It is totally not an "extraordinary facility" in that it's an actual cultural custom. Tourism also has cultural exchange as a purpose and sleeping on the floor is/was a societal norm in East Asia. In fact, in Korea, the traditional lifestyle is based on the floor; people sit on the floor to eat, study, and of course sleep. Although I had fun researching this topic, your clear reluctance to do research on "sleeping on floors" in East Asia and submitting to using mere conjecture is, to me, dismaying and a taint to this discussion.

I did not see the show you are referring to, but I do not that in several countries, it is the custom to sleep on pallets or cushions on the floor. It is actually quite comfortable. The area where you sleep can be used for living space during the day when you roll up the pallets. In places where it is very crowed and space is at a premium, it is very efficient.

Not having a bed is clearly a part of the experience, dimwit. Here in Japan, many people lay relatively thin mattresses on the floor - on a straw mat, to be more precise - and go to sleep on them without any problems.

What hotel is this? Are you referring to jimjilbang? The sauna/public bath place where you can also eat and sleep on the floor?

I would never say never, but it is very doubtful. I don't sleep on the floor anytime, but if it came down to there or no where, I would probably pay.

Not only in Korea in Japan also like this when we stay at traditional hotel. I not care if i get a bed or not. At here also our tradition to lie down at floor without bed. But if that hotel is modern hotel and not traditional it should have bed.
