My dog is scared of every little sound.

I'm not sure if this is something that I should be concerned about or not. I know that dogs are scared of loud noises (thunder, fireworks, etc.) But ever since new years eve when some fireworks went off, she has been following everyone around and shakes with fear if someone isn't around her. Even if the hot water pipes make popping sounds, she runs to find someone and starts shaking again. Is this a common thing with most dogs? Is there something I can do to help with that? She's been having accidents lately because when she gets scared, she pees.

You may have a dog with a submissive personality.I wonder, does she always pee when she gets scared?Does she pee at other times on purpose? She may be "demomstrating" her dissatisfaction with a situation!

She doesn't always pee when she's scared, but it just happens every now and then if it's been a while. And no, that's the only time she has the accidents. I should mention that I have a small dog, 3/4 shih tzu 1/4 yorkie. Usually when they get excited or scared, they have more accidents.

Oh, poor thing. She's still traumatized. Maybe it's her first New Year's eve. My dogs on their 1st New Year's experience were also like that. I had to comfort them and I'd try to imitate the sounds so they will get used to it. After a time they got over the traumatic experience but it comes back when another New Year comes.

She's been through one new years before, but I don't think there were any fireworks nearby. The only other time she's been scared was on the 4th of July, but she was fine the next day or so. But yeah, I guess I just need to get her used to little sounds like that so she isn't scared as much.
