Is Blogging A Lucrative Thing To Do With Expectation of Earning Income

I see a lot of people talking about blogging. Is this something one can be successful doing with the hopes of earning an income? What are some of the tips and tricks used to make a blog successful? With it becoming more popular there has to be some method to the madness. I also see a lot of users here talk more about blogger than they do that of Wordpress. Is wanting to do the free stuff just as lucrative as having a paid, hosted domain?

Blogging is basically like online journalism. Just like with real journalism your stories have to be interesting in order for the public to actually read them. Blogging is not going to make you rich but if you're a college student or something it's a great way to earn some extra income.

Thanks for the input. I am taking all this into consideration as I like to see what others think about things from time to time.

If your blog has a good traffic, you can expect a lucrative earning from it, otherwise, it is useless to expect much from blogging. Your blog must have an attractive as well as interesting subject that may draw enough visitors to it.

Blogger is easier to use than Wordpress I think. I have blogged for free and in truth lost patience with it. But you can see my most recent efforts on the link on my profile. I am so vain that I write to amuse others. If they don't come then I lose heart and give up. If it were lucrative would I try harder I wonder. Perhaps.....got any good leads to paid blogs?
