Nothing changed I can tell you. Every day is the same. I think this also depends on your life style. If your children are already grown up and you can start a live of your own (which I could have if my youngest 2 were not born) of you still have little children (like me). Might be once 40 was about half of your life. Now it is not anymore since people (esp. women) get way older as 80. Imagine.. you are 40 and not at 50% of your life yet. Over here we have to work till we are 72 or 74... (although I doubt you still have a job till that age) .. so less time left over to have a life of your own.

Yeah, that is why you are very lucky! Well, here, old people can still work but that would have to be owning a business otherwise, no company can accept you anymore.. Oh, I want to add this, I guess we are lucky enough to have bpo (call centers) who doesn't have age limit. As long as you can converse in English and as long as your body can endure the night shift, then you are as good as a newly graduate!

wakeupkitty, my kids are atleast school going and i dont think i intend to have anymore, i want to give the best to the 3 i have.i will also make sure i enjoy my life more with less pressure and here you work till 55 years. Girl-thinking, even here 40 years is hard to get a job unless in very senior positions.i am however going to make sure i prove myself at something to mark this period.

I am close to being 30 and I thought that was old. But reading your discussions and the comments make me realize that age is really just a number. I wouldn't have thought people's age by reading discussions in mylot because most of us somehow think the same way. It's kinda refreshing. I hope I can reach 40 and be as happy as you are. I think I have to watch my health if I want to live long!

Everybody should exercise! I guess if we do this regularly, we can achieve good health and we can live longer!

i think this is because by 40, people expect to have established careers and enough money to enjoy their life. sad to say for a lot of people this is not the case

I have to agree with you on that. Maybe before when life was not that hard, at 40 they used have at least a supervisory positions at their jobs, but now I see people over 40 still doing what they do, no career growth at all.

thanks for sharing, ddaguno i like your line of thought if by 40 i will be more firm i my position it makes me happy and Neriz i also think there is also a truth to your version that with so much job insecurity it may be a hard time but am praying for ddaguno's wishes.

I will say life at 40 is the life of lots of dreams and responsibilities. Dream in a sense about making your career may be in business or job, to have your own house, car etc. And responsibilities in a sense to look after your children studies and other needs plus to see that you keep your family happy and how to keep them happy. Actually there are lots many things steps in our life once we reach at 40 but I cannot mentioned it to you here because it will very big list.

There is a very famous saying. "Youth is blunder, manhood a struggle, and old age is a regret".

There are so many things people have to understand the meaning of "life begins at 40". The positive side are: when people become stable in their jobs, start earning higher pay and setting aside extra money for savings and enjoyment. This is true and applicable only to ordinary people. Rich families do not experience this and they don't care. For ordinary people, the meaning of life begins at 40 is enjoyment and happiness "BUT", though financially stable, in real world, most people and parents are also experiencing lots of problems after 40. Some people after 40, start to feel the agony of their hard works (sicknesses/illnesses coming out and/or loneliness in life).
