I felt really silly but my daughter and I wore socks on the beach in Cuba. I was still recto operating from a desease I caught in my foot from a beach in Jamaica so I wasn't taking any chances. I was in major pain from catching worms in my foot from dirty animal droppings on the beach. My daughter was terrified to get it after seeing me in pain and while wearing water shoes we were still getting a lot of sand in our shoes and this is where the worms live so we were taking real good care not to catch it, we didn't care how silly we looked.

you should do whatever you need to to protect your feet.

It was such a great shame you got a foot disease from animal droppings on the beach in Jamaica. I think therefore it was wise you had socks on when visited the beach in Cuba. It didn't matter if you looked silly to some people.
On my first day in Hawaii I went to sleep on the palm fringed beach. I was a bit bored since I couldn't swim in the rough waves and tired after my flight from California. My legs got badly sun burned in the tropical heat. I had to wear cotton trousers for the rest of my time there. I was feeling better by the time I reached Fiji.
I wear my beach shoes when I am on a tropical beach to protect my delicate feet. I even wear them when I go swimming or snorkeling.
