At the Hairdressers Today

Ok, so I went to the hairdresser's today and had long overdue highlights and a trim done. I am very pleased with the results. However, as she was finishing up and took the cape off of me, the stylist informed me that she got bleach on the back of my hoodie. This particular hoodie is a souvenir from a vacation I was on a couple of years ago. She was very apologetic and even offered to give me money for the damaged shirt. Any comments about this?

I could be furious about it if it happened to me. But if the hairdresser was very apologetic about it and even offered me money to pay for it, I think that would make me feel better.

I was only slightly disappointed about it. She was a very nice girl and honest and apologetic so I just didn't let it bother me. I didn't take any money from her for it and still left her a tip.

Wow, you must be a bit disappointed there. But things happended and I believe she didn't do it on purpose. I will take the money, hehe, because she offered it just take it so that not to make her feel guilty.

You are right, she did not do it on purpose. I didn't take any money from her as I felt it was an honest mistake and she pointed it out to me. Her offer to pay was sufficient compensation for me.

I get my hair colored, as well, and I never wear any clothing of value (monetary or sentimental) when she is working on me. Even with the protective capes, towels, etc., hair coloring products have too much potential for staining or bleaching so it's not worth risking your clothing. I think it's very generous of your hairdresser to offer to compensate you for the hoodie

I thought about that afterwards, thinkingoutloud, that next time I would make sure to wear older clothing. I also thought it generous and sincere to offer compensation for her error. I did not take any money from her, nor was I angry at her. She put a lot of effort into doing my hair and did a great job. I felt that getting angry would serve no purpose, especially when it was an accident and honest mistake. I still gave her a tip as well.

I think you handled that in such a nice way, Suebee. I mean, as you've said, she didn't intentionally damage the hoodie :) My hairdresser comes to my home and does my haircolor, along with my two daughters, all in the same appointment. We use my laundry room, since it is large and has a tile floor and a deep sink. You can be sure I've found a couple of splatters of haircolor on the walls nearest the laundry sink and, after the fact, you can't just wash it away. But I don't hold that against my hairdresser. She does her best to be careful but, of course, I'm not equipped as a salon and I have the convenience of not have to go out to my appointments. If little things happen as a result, I don't get upset. Ultimately, she does a really nice job and she's been my stylist for years and years :)

That is a good omen Suebee! If you want that back so badly you will have to go back on a vacation once again. Not a bad idea. Right!? Your Hairdresser did not do it on purpose. Apologies therefore are in order I guess!

That is exactly what I said to my husband allknowing! When I got home and told him I said "I guess that just means that we have to go back and get another one"! We would love to go back to Myrtle Beach and have actually been talking about it, so I guess a trip is in order. And yes, she was fairly young and did a good job on my hair. She was very apologetic so I did not get angry over it. It's only a hoodie after all.

Clearly it wasn't purposely done, I would simple tell her dont worry about it. For me I would still wear it, even just around the house if it was real noticerable. I know a friend who would throw it out right away, and complain about it for months.

That's exactly what I told her. Don't worry about it. And I had the same thought as well, I can still wear it, even if only around the house. No sense complaining about it, it's already done. No amount of complaining will reverse it.

Yes, I was very pleased with the job she did on my hair. She put a lot of time and effort in to it. When you think about it, it was on the back of my shirt and she could have just said nothing at all as I couldn't see it myself. She was honest and pointed out her mistake to me and I respect her for that. I didn't get mad at her, nor did I take any money from her for the hoodie. In fact, I still left her a tip.

For some reason Hatley, I wasn't too angry with her. I felt that she put a lot of effort into doing my hair and was pleased with the results. Yes my hoodie was in good condition when I went in there but accidents do happen. I felt that the offer itself was good enough for me so I didn't take any money from her for it.
