I just had a chat with my mom earlier. I guess it's good advice tip over and over from before. She doesn't know a way to help me get a job even though I'm trying to find a job on my own. She says she cannot help me get a job, I know that. She is wondering why is that other people can get a job specially if its seasonal and that i'm not able to get a job offer or calls? I have changed my resume and the formatting and adding and editing. On the jobs I applied, I put that I had Master's degree on resume, but which is probably overqualified for most seasonal jobs. So I already edited my resume and took out my master's degree and put just bachelor's degree. She is keeps exaggerating or expressing in a way asking "why is that others can get a job and that I can't? Why is that this and this... And then she says there's something lacking me....and then she mentioned about probably my resume and also the "drive" in looking for a job. Also mentioned about I should be going out and driving places to apply for a job instead of using online to send resume. Most of the jobs I applied for before, I don't know much about following up with applications sent but I do get notices on emails saying "sorry your not selected" or we will keep your resume on file.. or you're not qualified for this job and we selected another candidate for this job, etc" Now I'm somewhat frustrated but it insome way I'm trying best to look for a job my way. I'm 30 and still live with parents. Also my mom doesn't want me to go back to school to study and wants me to get a job.. she doesn't to spend anymore money such things education especially me to study too much. I've already have an education loan from my master's and bachelor's degree as well as spending on a medical coding CPC prep course. I did not pass my CPC test twice...If only I had a job, I'd try again for CPC and retake the test. I really hate this. I want something and I got no results... And my mom sees it this way that when its something i want and I did, I got no results. There's no light... when I wanted to take CPC course and then pay for CPC test, I failed twice. No results... especially when I was in school years ago for bachelor's degree, no results.. I wasn't able to get the job i wanted based on the major. At the same time, I'm thinking of joining Air Force Reserve..but don't know anymore.. My mom says Economy is not only too blame for hard getting a job, but blame on the person (the job seeker)...which could be me.. She says there's something lacking in me and doesn't know what's that. I really don't know anymore. I hate about job nags...I just hope I get a job offer soon. I have applied lots through Craigslist, Careerbuilder, monster, indeed. But I got no response. It takes awhile to get interviews. I already took out something from my resume that may overqualify me.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well i can understand your situation and i think u are getting too much worried about your career. To be very honest i want you to be relaxed and think with a positive bent of mind again. This is the testing time and u have to be firm and determined and do not loose any hopes. If u are competent and hard working then a good job will definitely come you way. What say?

OK first thing I will tell you is that I'm in the same boat. I was job searching for a full time job that I wanted for over a year and in that time I got hardly any interviews or call backs. It's not you either, you are trying, it's just that these people judge you without even knowing you. Saying that whenyou do get an interview you have to really sell yourself in order to get the job. Do you research the companies that you apply for and study the job description? Also if they provide a phone number do you call back and follow up with them as to how it's going? Even if you get a message that you have been unsuccessful you can always call upand ask for feedback on what you can do for next time. PS. Don't listen to your mother, there is nothing wrong with you and you're not a failure. It was much easier in her day to be able to get a job than it is today. It gets harder and harder trying to get a job. Oh and one more thing to mention do you do a bit of work online for some income at least besides MyLot?

Hello BabyCheetah, Thanks for your response. What job are you having right now or were looking for? I know employers are picky these days. I don't know if economy is to blame as well. I already changed my resume few times as well. I do research the companies that I apply for and studied the job description. I guess I need more to do on follow up. But I already get emailed responses saying that I'm not qualified for the position we already chosen another candidate. I do try to find another way to earn online aside from Mylot. I'm also applying for projects at Odesk. But some are already hiring others to do projects.

Hi, Well see I was looking at admin and data entry which every man and their dog looks for as well which is why I have a hard time. I've applied at odesk but I haven't done much there. I've stopped looking for jobs now as I'm going back overseas soon so no one is going to really hire me now. I've been trying to make money online but it's super slow. At least I'll have a bit of something extra.

Don't give up on it. You will have your own time. Just be patient. If an only if you were given a chance to work but with a lower salary, then maybe you should try to accept it. What is important is that you were able to start. Think of going up on a ladder once you are there already. Have a nice day!

Hi there ARIES1973, thanks for your reply. I am praying and hoping i get something a job and so that I can earn income. I don't like to rely on parent's money. I don't mind lower salary. I've been applying to jobs either 9.00 or 10 which is semi I out of my range but it doesn't matter. I applied for those jobs and I'm open to applying. I have had other jobs before but I got laid off on one and then I also had a family business for 3 years and then sold the business and then I was digital marketing assistant but they laid me off and decided not to continue the intern program. I just hope all is well. I even posted an employment job prayer as well on fb. How are you doing? hope all is well.
