It is nice to know that Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani teenager shot by the Taliban because she refused to abandon her campaign for girls’ education, has recently been discharged on a temporary basis from hospital. The 15- year- old was shot in the head by a Taliban assassin as she took a bus home from school in the country’s North West in early October,2012. She was flown to Britain shortly after and has been receiving life-saving treatment at Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital. She was recently discharged from hospital, less than three months after the attack, after doctors decided that ‘she would benefit from being at home’ with her parents and two brothers. She is set to undergo complex cranial reconstruction surgery later this or early next month as part of her long-term recovery. She will now continue her at the hospital as an outpatient and therapies team from the hospital will continue to work with her at home to supervise her onward care. The decision to release her on a temporary basis was reached after she was allowed to spend time with her father and mother and younger brothers at her ‘temporary home’ in the West Midlands and there was a good progress in her recovery. Malala has announced to return to Pakistan after her full recovery but we are all sure that she will remain a target for as long as terrorism threatens the country. Isn’t it? But let’s all pray to the almighty God to look after her and to make her successful in her mission.

You have to wonder about a bunch of big, strong men who are afraid of the words of a 15 year old girl.....

I will continue to pray for the recovery of this young girl. I think that it is sad that grown men find a child (for lack of a better way to put it) to be a huge threat to them. Living where I live, I see that women have the same kinds of educational opportunities as men have and if I was to ever find myself in a part of the world where women were not allowed the same educational opportunities that men are allowed to have, I would possibly be a person that would fall pray to these same groups.

Its wonderful news that this young girl is out of hospital healthy and hale. Its a victory of sorts for this girl and slap on the face of the taliban who as an act of cowardice tried to eliminate her. Bravo. I wish her all success in future and of course her safety
