My big mistake of the day

We are all only human and being as such, it is natural that we do all make some mistakes from time to time. Well, I made mine and though it could have been a lot worse, it was enough to make me feel like an idiot. You see, I'd told my best girlfriend that I would put some time on her prepaid phone so that she would be able to get calls from the jobs that she's applied for, etc. I went onto the website where I am able to refill phones and I typed in her name and a phone number (I thought it was hers mentally, but I was wrong, it was her brother's phone number). Now after I put minutes on someone's phone I will call them right afterward to make sure that it worked. It didn't! It was at that point that I looked at the receipt and realized that I had typed in the wrong number. So, I did another purchase and put in her number (last time I will depend on my memory) and made a phone card purchase for her. The result, I ended up spending ten dollars that I didn't have to spend. However, I know that her brother will get me back when it comes to the valve adjustment and spark plug tube seals that I need on the car. You know it could have been a lot worse and I could have purchased time for a complete stranger, which I didn't. Have you made a mistake of any kind this week? Is it something that really did make you feel stupid? Please make me feel better about the fact that I made a mistake.

I was waiting for you to say it was a complete stranger. Luckily it was someone you knew and can figure it out from there. I have done this with my own internet stick iin the past, I said my number (or what I thought it was), turns out it wasnt. So I had to call them back and get them to figure it out.

Thankfully it wasn't a complete stranger, I don't know if I would be able to forgive myself if I would have given money to a complete stranger. Now don't think that I'm not the kind of person that likes to partake in random acts of kindness because I love to. The thing is, right now a random act of kindness is not something that we would be able to afford.

I don't know, I would have called them and let them know about my mistake if it would have been that I had put money on the account of a stranger. However since it was a mistake that was made which benefited another friend of mine, I really wasn't too terribly concerned about it.

I am sure if that happened you could call the company and get it removed. I have had that happen a few times, and they had no issues returning the money to me. The same for me, as I don't have the spare money.

Oh we all make mistakes and that is just simple mistake compared to what my friends did. An email was sent to us from a common friend along with the other friends. Which I think about 8 of us got that mail and she replied back ( something silly about the e-mail) thinking she was just replying to me and then sent out....only then she realize she has replied to all,lols.... She said good thing, they cant see her face turning red. So Stay Cool!

Even this mistake that the friend of yours made is really something that is relatively minor in the grand scheme of things. Yes, she might have been embarrassed about accidentally sending the email to everyone, but at least it wasn't something that had a permanent impact on her life or the lives of others.

You are definitely right, there are certainly people that have made much bigger mistakes than the one that I made.

Yup no personal damage done. And yes everybody make mistakes and some we can just charge to experience and find humor in it. And for sure, others or even might have made a bigger mistakes than you did! Have a great weekend!

This week, yes! I normally am very detailed in what I do. I sign off on everything that happens in our shop -the company I work for. Well, yesterday the boss was complaining about stuff that was sitting on the shelf, on the floor. He wanted it out the door right away. So, in a rush I made all the papers to get it out. Only at the end of the day when the boss was gone and had the chance to look at all the documentations that I realized that I sent it to the wrong place. Thankfully I got it back today. I have to send it out again tomorrow to the right place. In my boss' panic, and my big mistake of the week, we lost a couple of days.

Just like with my big mistake of the week, your big mistake of the week could have very easily been something that was a lot worse than what it ended up being. Thankfully you got your documentation back so that the error could be corrected. Yes, you did lose a couple days work, but at least you didn't permanently lose the work that you had done.

We all do commit some stupid mistakes once or twice or maybe even more. Well, One stupid mistake I have done recently was when I was waiting for the pot of water to boil for my spaghetti noodles. So while waiting it to boil, I started cleaning the living room. I have practically cleaned everything that needs tidying. And when I got back to the stove, and lift the lid up, the water was still. I left it for more than 30 minutes and there wasn't even a bubble. Well, I found out that i forgot to plug it into the socket!

hi can you imagine a group of librarians all huddled around a comoputer on the kids side and could not get it to work. Now a little boy is seated and giggling. Okay I walk around behind the computer and under desk lies the plug to the computer. I plug it back i n go arouond and log in to the library code. They come and ask me what the heck did I do as they could not get it to come on.I giggled then said," I plugged it back in, It was simply unplugged".[

You know, forgetting to plug something in sounds a lot like something that I would be known to do. You are definitely not alone with this particular mistake that you've made.

Hi, Hatley! Your story really made me laugh out loud. Coz while reading it, it was like I was actually seeing the exact scene and just found myself laughing. My son even asked me what was wrong with me. But it does happen. And I think that my sister in law had the same experience with her own computer at her office back then. Hello, Dorannmwin! it happened to me several times. Is it because my mind is so full of a lot of things or is it because of age?

To bad you realized it was the wrong number after you had already paid it. I'm sure they appreciated it though. Well, we're all human and we all make mistakes. I hope your friend was understanding. Hmmmm, I haven't made a mistake like that this week..yet, but the week isn't over with yet. We still have two more days to go. Hopefully the last half will go as smoothly as the first half.

When I called him to tell him that he was the lucky recipient of my big mistake of the week, he actually asked me if it would be possible to have money transferred from his account to his sister's account. I actually told him not to worry about it because I'd already put some money on his sister's account.

I had made mistakes too... That is part of every human, we aren't perfect. Apparently, mistakes lead us to learn. So for now, you need just to correct that mistake and everything will be fine.

You are right that to make mistakes is human and we have to accept that fact. However, that doesn't mean that it is any easier to deal with the mistakes that we do make in our lives.

I am and have always been one of those people that firmly believes that we should do do other people like we would have them do to us. With that said, I know that everything will eventually work itself out.

I used to have quite a collection of Beanie Babies and I know what you mean about accidentally duplicating one of the that was in your collection. At least Theodore is cute and though you could have used the money somewhere else, it wasn't a mistake that was terribly expensive.

I haven't done this, but I have mixed up my credit card bills. I have one with very low interest and I pay the least on that one, the other one has almost double the interest rate and I try to keep the balance on that one very low. Often times I feel like I juggle life, don't you?

I feel like in living our lives we are definitely in a constant juggling act. You are being really smart about paying the most on the credit card with the much higher interest rate and paying less on the card that has the lower interest rate.

I´m always making mistakes, but lately I have decided not to worry too much about them. If it is something I can mend, I try to do it. But if it isb´t, I go with the saying "there´s no use crying over spilled milk". Your mistake was a mistake of love.

hi marguicha with all you have had on your plate you have always a positive attitude and I love that. My husband was like that too. Also he always asked me when I was upset will this matter five years from now and I had to laugh a s most things are little things that in the scope of life will not amount to a hill of beans in another year or two.

Marguicha, this is actually something that I've tried to change about my life, but I am the kind of person that has always taken things really hard. I hate the fact that I spent money that I didn't have to spend, but I know that my friend's brother is very appreciative of my mistake. See, the thing is, if he was to ask me for money to put on his phone, he is the only other person in the world that isn't my family that I would be willing to do it for other than his older sister.

I think that it would be very neat if I was able to look at the simple things in life and find great pleasure in them. There was a time in my life that I wasn't able to do it at all, but now that I'm a mother I do find that simple pleasures are something that is much easier for me to appreciate.

I was posting on Mylot this morning and lost track of the time. Well, I realize that I had only 1/2 hour to get to a meeting. But I first needed to take a shower. So, I texted my friend to say that I would be late to the meeting. I really wanted to go to the meeting as it is a meeting with many of my friends. A social meeting and we have fun and do charity work together. I got in the car and it would not start. I realized my BIG mistake. I had left the back light on all night long. I had gone shopping yesterday and got back when it was dark. I had groceries in the back of the car and turned on the back light to see the bags of groceries. With all the bags of groceries in my hand, I forgot to turn off that back light. So, I had to phone road service to jump start my car. It is free with my car insurance. I texted my friend to tell her that I won't make it at all. By the time the road service truck arrived and then, jump started my car and filled out paper work which I had to sign, the meeting would be almost over. So, I learned - be sure to turn off the back light in my car. A stupid mistake but as with your mistake, it could have been a lot worse. I was just glad I was home when I had to call road service. But, I do look forward to the next meeting as I missed meeting with my friends.

I know that it very easily can happen that you do lose track of time when you are mylotting, I've had the same thing happen to me in the past. However these days when I am mylotting, I meter the time that I am on here by playing podcasts while I am on here so that I don't completely lose all track of time.

We all do silly things sometimes. I paid my daughters hospital bill online the other day. It was the last payment so I was exicited to be done. Two days later the hospital called and asked why I was paying money on my acct. I told them that it was for my daughters bill and it was the last payment. They explained to me that I already paid them the last pmt on 12-23 and asked what I would like them to do with the money. I felt so stupid.

This sort of reminds me of my mother with the orthopedist. When I was eight years old and broke my ankle, she paid off the orthopedist and the next day my father broke his heel. She paid that off and within a couple days my sister broke her arm. So my mother told them that she would not pay off her account again. She still has one cent due with them 18 years later.

Yeah, it really could have been much, much worse. I was just doing a daily fill of ten dollars, if it had been a fill that would last for a month of 50 dollars I really don't think that I would have been able to forgive myself.

We all make mistakes. The other day, I was contacting a website and used my other email address; the youngest cat was bouncing on and off my lap and meowing while I was trying to fill in the information, and I was completely distracted by that. That was the same day that my boyfriend helped me clean the washer/dryer filter--and failed to properly tighten the filter back into place. Know what happens when the filter is not tightened into place? If you're guessing that it involves flooding half of the room, because I'd not realized it and had simply come through and started a load of laundry, you would be correct. He did help some with the clean-up, but it added half-an-hour to my workload of house chores for the day. *Sigh*

Oh, that would be a terrible mess in my home as our washer and dryer is right off of one of the two rooms in our house that is carpeted. I'm sorry that this happened to you but at least it wasn't a catastrophic accident.

I did two things today. First, started to drive off at gas station with the hose still in the pump and the attendant yelling for me to stop. Secondly, stopped to buy coffee at another gas station later in the day and placed my coffee carefully on the roof of my car whilst I opened the car door. And yes, I drove off with the coffee on top of the car. Do you mean things like this that often happen to me on a daily basis?

Now I have to say that I've never made the first mistake that you've spoken about here. However, when it comes to putting a drink on top of the car and then forgetting about that, that mistake is something that I've done several times in my life and is also something that I almost did last night and would have if my friend had not reminded me that I put my drink up there.
