There was a young woman contestant on The Price is Right the other day who seemed very nice with a reserved personality, etc. But a closer look showed a very large tattoo, maybe a fake one painted on, that was partly hidden under her top and extend almost to both shoulders. Whether it was a real tattoo or one that was just painted on, it just did not seem to fit the rest of her looks, what she wore or her personality. I should mention that I don't particularly care for tattoos and think they are demeaning on women especially and indicate a certain amount of lack of respect for their own bodies. So this one real or not was disturbing to me because it was so in congruent with the girl who had. See photo for what was visible of the tattoo.

Respect is a two way traffic and as the Golden Rule says, "Do unto others what you want others to do unto you." Tattoo is a form of self expression. Each image tells a story---a personal affinity. I don't think the use of demeaning is not a fair assessment of women with tattoos. Whatever the meaning of that girl's tattoo is her personal business. Based on the picture you sent, She did not intend to show it. So what I'm saying is---move on.

I'm a women and your calling the tattoo on my body that I got because I was told I had a miscarriage over a year ago demeaning to my womenly body that is so wrong. A tattoo has nothing to do with a person personality. It's and expression of who you are something that you want to remind you of something that you treasure with your heart. I'm a mom I love my kids and my tattoo it might not reflex who I am but it, tells a story if people would stop to ask me or think about why I have the tattoo I have. I'll tell you the story so you can understand why I have my tattoo. It's placed on my chest bone on my right side. My husband has the same tattoo in the same spot. It's of little unborn baby feet with the word loved written under it. When I was told last year on December 16th that I had a miscarriage I was torn to pieces I lost something that I hadn't yet got to seen or hole or even name for that matter. Every time I looked at my daughter which she was almost 11 month old at that time. We weren't even trying for a second child yet and it killed me on the inside. The only way I felt that could help me from all the pain was to feel a little physcial pain and get a tattoo so I could always remember how much it hurt to lose my baby and to know that I will always love him or her as much as I love my daughter. I felt so much better after that. As I said my children are my world. Something was taken from me and then something was give to me. After that tattoo right before my daughter's first birthday I found out I was indeed pregnant with my son. I would go throw all of that again to have another tattoo to always remind me of them always. My husband also had tattoos of our children to show how much he loves them.

So, it isn't demeaning for tattoos to be on guys, just girls?

I think they are demeaning on guys, too. But being a guy, I am less interested in looking at guys bodies.

There are two kinds of person. One is close minded person. Two is open minded person. A close minded person does not understand what does tattoo means. A tattoo is a form of art. I know that because I have studied fine arts in college. I didn't finish it. I have only studied first year college. Even women that are naked is a form of art. I have already experienced drawing women naked in my sketch book and now, it depends on person on how they perceived women that are naked in the picture. You'll see it on sculpture, paintings and so on. It has hidden meaning. If a person is an open minded person, they would understand all of this. There some religious people who don't like tattoo at all. Not all religious people. Just some of them. Religious people perceived tattoo as evil or bad for ruining their own body because they believe that our body is sacred and a gift of God. It depends on each person of what they believe. Now for those women who wear tattoo, well, it depends on what tattoo they had. Is it fit for her or for her personality, well, it depends on women. It depends on tattoo too of what form of art they want. For me, there is nothing wrong with it as long as they knew how to carry it. There some women wear tattoo that are decent isn't it? It is so hard to judge by outside appearances just because of a tattoo.

I am far from being closed minded. But I don't care for tattoos. I also don't like some styles of haircuts on both women and men. If a haircut or tattoo fits the persons personality or style or look that they like to convey, I understand. It may not be to my taste but they can certainly make that choice. My point about the girl on TPIR is that her personality and the style of clothing and just general appearance did not seem to fit with someone who would have such a large tattoo in such a visible place.
