A half term break or a long weekend

If you have one or more children at school it is lovely to take a break in a half term. A half term in my home country lasts for one week plus two weekends. So altogether that is nine days. If you are working try to arrange your vacation time carefully. When I worked for a shipping company I was allowed twelve days and eight days vacation. So altogether it was twenty days. When teaching in a full time permanent position I can only travel in the school holidays. If there is a bank holiday Monday you can have a three day break. If you are able to travel to your destination after work on Friday. Then you can have full days away before you travel back home on Monday. If you had won one thousand dollars in a quiz where would you have your half term break or long weekend away? Which kind of accommodation would you stay in? Tell me about what you would like to do there.

I would love to go to somewhere where there's not too many people, so a non-tourist area, somewhere that was not too hot, and somewhere that was peaceful, quiet and had a swimming pool and gym! That's if a place exists. Well I'd settle for somewhere nice and quiet and picturesque. I'd go on walks, swim if there were safe places to swim or pools, and relax.

Hi Maxine, As you know, I don`t have children anymore. But when my children were small, we always went to the country nearby with them in those occations. We did not have money for hotels, but my parents owned a country house. It was cozy and the girls had fun.

Problem over here (the Netherlands) is that it depends on where you live when you have holidays. Also schools can choose when to give the holdidays. Which means you can have different vacations for your kids if they are not staying at the same school. It makes it way harder to travel. One thousand? I think it will be Schotland somewhere in the middle of nowhere.. hope there is some cottage available. There is nothing special I want to do.. it's good to do nothing also (which is hard with children) and just ejoy, relax.
