Don't lose to plagiarist, or else......

Some freelance writers have a habit to publish their work in their blogs even if they are asked to write for another party, they can become a victim of plagiarism for this very reason. A friend of mine was requested to write a fresh article on train travels. My friend wrote a good article, but by habit, published on blog first to get review, and then deleted it in 2 hours, before sending it by email. But...but got a shock in reply with a link that, the article was copied from another source. This makes clearer that his article was copied in 2 hours when he published on his blog, and he lost copyright by deleting his article. Now he just hope about that plagiarist to sleep in train every night on middle berth, with Mr. Snoring at lower berth and Mr. Gas at upper berth.

It is not NECESSARILY true that someone else copied his article in the two hours in which it was displayed on his blog. Search engines are extremely quick in indexing sites and it is completely possible that his blog entry was cached by a search engine in that time. That can mean that Copyscape (or whichever tool the article publishing site uses) found a 'previously published' version of the article, even though your friend had removed it from his blog. Many article publishing sites require that the articles published are COMPLETELY original (that is, that the FIRST place that an article is published is on that site). Your friend very likely 'shot himself in the foot' by publishing the article in his blog before submitting it to the article site!

Yes he made a big mistake by publishing the article on his blog first, but he is not alone, many others now have developed a habit of publishing their articles in their blog. Another friend once told me his old article was published in Knoji after he deleting from his blog, some people think this way they can keep it fresh.

if his article was for a particular blog why did he post it to his own site first? He has actually plagiarized himself by doing that.

@arthurchappell That was a fault, but a lesson too. Everyone is a learner, and learns with experience.

Plagiarists can strike in seconds let alone a few hours. They'll watch sites for new material like vultures,

This is something a writer should remember, if they publish their content, then better not to delete, this will at least give them copyright ownership and right to complaint.
