Another question about the story of Abraham in the Bible.

A month ago I have started a discussion about the story of Abraham in the Bible:

after reading the responses to this discussion and after reading further in Bible, I have another question regarding the story of Abraham in the Bible.
according to the Bible [Genesis 22] God tried Abraham's faith by asking him to sacrifice his son and after this incident Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh as mentioned in Genesis 22:14
But the Bible says in Exodus 6:3 that the name Jehovah was not known to Abraham, so the question now is:
How could Abraham call the name of the place Jehovahjireh while the name Jehovah was not known to Abraham?
What say you?

NO ONE knew the name Jehovah! That was the English translators' interpretation of YHWH (or is it JHWH or JHVH ... four Hebrew letters, yod-hah-vav-hah)

The name Jehovah (English) appears many times in the book of Genesis. Abraham addressed God by his name in Genesis 18:3.
Exodus 6:3 is highlighting that God was going to reveal a facet of his name that was known to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
The Illustrated Bible Dictionary (Vol. 1, p. 572) comments: “The former revelation, to the Patriarchs, concerned promises belonging to a distant future; it supposed that they should be assured that He, Yahweh, was such a God ('el) as was competent (one possible meaning of sadday) to fulfill them. The revelation at the bush was greater and more intimate, God’s power and immediate and continuing presence with them being all wrapped up in the familiar name of Yahweh.”—Edited by J. D. Interesting!
Then, if such a name was unknown to Abraham, what name did he give unto God? Do you think he gave a similar name & a later translation rendered that which we now see?
Are these details also present in the Holy Qura'n or is there a contradiction?
I'm wondering about the significance of such a place-naming. And why these people went about the place just naming everything after the things that happened there out of total disregard for the name that the place already had? I'll have to look into that aspect further, I think...
