Does this sound like a yeast infection?

Well, this started a couple months ago. I got a really bad itch and didn't think much of it at the time because I'd never had a yeast infection before. I bought some vagisil and it helped with the itching. Once I stopped using it though, the itching would come back. Then it started to burn and I got really red and swollen. I figured that I must have a yeast infection, so I bought the 7 day monistat treatment and that didn't help much, so about another week later, I bought the 3 day treatment thinking it might help better. It relieved some, but didn't cure it. I finally just gave in and went to the ER on the 9th. I don't have insurance or the money to pay upfront for a doctor's visit, so that was my only choice left. Anyway, I got the pelvic exam and the results came back normal somehow. The doctor still prescribed me with one pill (diflucan) because the symptoms were very similar to a yeast infection. Well, that didn't help at all. I'm working on seeing if I can get up some money to see an ob/gyn to see if they can figure out what's wrong, or if it's just a yeast infection that was somehow hard to detect. But I wanted to find out if this has happened to anyone with a yeast infection before? Did you ever get tested and everything came back normal? I'm kind of freaking out from wondering what else it could be. I'm really sore/raw, swollen, and itching like crazy. I cannot get a good nights sleep because of it and I wake myself up from scratching, which makes it even more sore. Is there anything I could try that would help with the itching or soreness til I can see a doctor again?

this is going to sound either weird or gross...but it will work..well, it worked for me..get some plain yogurt..and kind of put it in the area where it itches and burns or whatever and put on a panty liner or a pad..its going to feel cold and weird, but it does work..also, eat lots of yogurt (not from the same container you put in your area you know)but the best advice is to make sure you see a doctor ASAP

Actually, it would be best if you could have a urinalysis as soon as you can to determine if there is indeed some infection. Itching could also be caused my URINARY TRACT INFECTION. Might as well have the results ready prior to going to the OB for check up.

The only symptom I get when I have a yeast infection is the burning. Monistat takes care of it but I have to use the ovules, not the cream applicator things. If I use the applicators it makes the burning stop for a day or two but then it's back like I didn't treat it. Ovules work way better for some reason. I'm no doctor, and I can't tell you for sure that it's yeastie beasties because I just don't know. There's lots of stuff that's got the same symptoms. You reeeeeeally need to get that looked at as soon as you can. The ER doc is just treating your immediate symptoms so you need to follow up with another doctor if nothing's getting better. Even a general practitioner can do the exam and diagnose it. Have you looked into community health centers in your area, maybe a city or county thing? We've got Community Health Services here and they see patients on an income-based sliding scale.

Maybe you're just sensitive to the type of soaps you use. For a while I had a similar situation and I had an appointment but my doctor said that there wasn't any yeast infection. I realized that a few weeks before, I had started using a new body wash. I stopped using that body wash and things went back to normal. Do you use any soaps or perfumes down there? You're actually not supposed to do that to that area. You can just use water to clean it because using soaps or perfumes will irritate the area and cause itching and even an odor. If it still itches, try using a cortizone cream or something because it will help relieve the itching.

I kindly suggest you'd better see a doctor and take a physical examination.Try to classify the details to the doctor and see if he can give you some useful medicine or advice.Don't use the medicine without consulting your physician.I hope you will be well soon.Best wishes to you.

Well, whatever it is you should try some herbs. Juice of basil, neem (azadirachta indica) leaves if applied can cure anything and do not have any side effects as it is organic. You can also try hot water bath and steam bath too. I hope you'll get well soon.
