Usually i would just go and buy those powdered form of iced tea we often see in grocery stores..the most popular here is from Nestle iced tea... Last night we were over my brother-in-law's house and his wife made this awesome pure iced tea that is addictive at the same time soooooooo healthy. She made it out of green tea with lemon grass and pandan leaves. of course the lemon grass and pandan leaves were boiled separately for their extracts..then mixed with the green tea and then some honey in it.. It was sooooooo delicious and refreshing, we were drinking it very cold and i want to make more of it too hahaha! i will definitely make some for my kids to drink too, at first the power of the lemon grass is strong but it gives you this strong minty after taste too that you will find refreshing... i was reading the health benefits of these stuff and it is utterly amazing. so i am planning on giving these to the kids too so they will start drinking healthy.

A fresh plant is always better than a powdered one. I have never seen pandan leaves here, but I remember that lemongrass is used with mint to flavor green tea in North Africa, and it tastes very good. Sadly lemongrass is only commonly available in powder in my country ; fresh lemongrass is quite expensive here.

You are lucky ! Lemongrass does not grow easily in Europe because the weather is too cold. In Southern France, we have melissa, which has a similar taste, but less strong, and can be found in the woods in spring and summer or grown in gardens. It is also used to make an iced tea, with lemons and sugar. I have not drank this since years, and now I want an iced tea in the middle of winter. Your fault, Jave.

Before this powdered ice tea comes out in the market I use to make the natural tea from pandan leaves and lemon grass. My kids become too addictive with powdered ice tea and it's not good for the health due to synthetic flavor and chemicals on it. Now I give them cucumber water and I am happy that they've like very much....

WOw! It seems that you enjoy drinking the new discovered ice tea of your brother-in-law. I'd love to drink ice tea too. Instead of drinking softdrinks I prepare to have an ice every meal in our house. My wife already aware about my needs. I wish to drink that kind of tea soon.

I am still here at home, my wife don't want me to leave her while pregnant on my first baby. Either end of this month or first week of next month, she will deliver our baby boy.

The green tea that you are referring is the one that we can buy in supermarkets, powdered form? What's the brand name of the green tea? I'm interested, sounds delicious. If the taste is good i would probably share it also to my friends and family. Excited to try it. hanks for the share. I'll search the health benefits online. Thanks!

Lemon grass is tanglad, if i am not mistaken, jazel . Pandan leaves and this lemon grass are very cheap. They can be bought in the market. The honey though is rare, because what is sold are those commercialized ones that are not really pure honey. I think i will try it on weekends. Then, can i store bottles of it in the ref for the week's consumption, jazel? Thanks for sharing that.

Well, I too like the pier drinking tea, especially in summer than cool. I unlike you, I do not take the powder, but I go to the supermarket and take what already bottled, lemon-flavored or flavored peach. I have carefully read your discussion on the tea that you drank. It certainly will be healthy, but it is difficult, I believe that it is to my liking. Even for tea, like everything else, everyone has his own taste.

You're lucky. I'd love to drink tea in its natural form as possible. I used to drink crystallized/powder tea, but it's not really healthy with all that sugar in it. We don't have 'pandan' leaves here, but can get lemongrass from the grocery store. I usually drink the tea-bag kind as the loose leaf variety tend to be more expensive.

I dont really care for the nestea powdered iced tea you have to mix with water. It just never seems to taste as food to me as the premade nestea you can buy. My daughter likes to try all different kinds of iced tea. The other day when we were shopping she wanted orange flavored iced tea. I love peach flavored iced tea as well as raspberry. I have never heard of the tea your sister makes. It doesnt sound like something I would like to drink but thats awesome that it has so many health benefits. I hope your children like it.

Lemongrass is really amazing, but I have never tried to mix it with pandan. It is even better if you will have a cold fusion rather than boiling it. What we do here is we pound the lemon grass so the juice will be extracted. Lots of lemon grass though. Then put it overnight in a pitcher of water and put it in the fridge to make it cold. In the morning, you add kalamansi and mascovado or honey. It would taste great. We brought some of it in the school of my son, we made it like a punch. We put some apples and oranges and the kids really loved it. If you also have some makopa there you can boil the leaves too and add some kalamansi you will have a great ice tea as well.

Iced tea should never come in powdered form. *Shudders* I'm glad that you have discovered real iced tea--and a healthy variety of it. Iced tea, like most things, is something that can be fairly healthy but can easily be "junked up" by adding unhealthy things. Those powdered ice tea mixes are a good example of the "junking up" of iced tea.

Wow my friend, from how you describe it, I think I will love that recipe too! I so love iced teas! But I only use those powdered iced teas we buy from the groceries. If you don't mind my friend, can I post this recipe on my food blog? Can you please share me the procedures on how to do it? Would love to try it too! And the honey that you used, what is it?

I am a huge iced tea fan and when I saw you used powdered tea I was sad. I mean it's not bad if you are on the go and need a quick fix but fresh tea is the best. Green tea is my favorite and it does have so many great benefits. It is said green tea has antioxidents, slightly boosts the metabolism, boosts blood flow, and helps your bowls. Tea doesn't have a lot of caffeine in it but it still has a little just fyi for the kids.
