Where do you look?

I guess in the past month I haven't been trying very hard to find a new job. I've been wanting one for awhile. I'm not crazy about working in the bank, it's not what I really wanted to be doing. So I've been trying to find a way into the medical field. Now that I'm being sent back to my old bank, which I didn't like all that much, I'm going to try even harder to find a different job. I went on Craigslist this morning to search for job postings. For some reason I do most of my job searching on Craigslist. So far it hasn't panned out, but I have gotten a few interviews that way. I just have to be very careful as a lot of the ads on Craigslist are scams. I've got so much experience with it though that it's pretty easy for me to decide what is a scam and what isn't. I use a few other job sites too, but I haven't even gotten so much as an interview or a call back about any of those. Although I did get my current job through CareerBuilder, but my husband has been using that one primarily and again hasn't gotten so much as a call back from anything he has applied to. Where do you do the majority of your job hunting? What sites have you found work best for you?

Well I haven't been having much luck but our local news paper and our local news station both have a jobs section on their website. So I check those often and see if there is anything I can apply for.

I got a lot of leads from Dice (mainly tech jobs), Business workforce, Taleo, simply Hired and a few others. Good luck.

I got a couple of e-mails for totally unrelated jobs, both involving selling insurance.

I used to look in the newspaper. The last job I had though I ended up finding out about through a friend. I ended up working at a children's mental hospital. I liked my job. But I didn't enjoy knowing what some of those children did to get in there. I mean I feel like some of those kids are going to be tomorrow's serial killers. Most of them can get help and overcome their problems, but some of them, yikes.

No. They might if one of the kids was in for murder, but we didn't keep children who murdered someone. And when you're a juvenile, your records are sealed so it's basically like a clean slate when you turn 18.

That's a scary thought. Do they keep track of those kids once they're released, sort of like a parole officer would keep track of someone released from jail?

I have never had to search for a job as they were always offered to me. I don't know why but this isn how it was. However, now I am looking for a villa to manage part time as even an extra Us$300 -400 would help me a great deal to pay off my credit card debt.

My husband had that kind of luck too.. he got his current job by knowing a previous manager through a previous job. He also gets a lot of job leads through his customers. Too bad none have panned out though.

Being that I've been staying at home with the children for the last six years, I haven't gone on a job search in quite a while. However, my good friend was trying to get a job and she was doing a lot of applying through the computer and she didn't so much as even get a call from all of those applications that she had put in. So she took to actually going to different places of business to put in applications. This still has not resulted in a job for her, but at least in doing it that way, she has gotten a few interviews.

I did that before I started working as I didn't care what kind of job I got.. I just wanted a job. I ended up getting a job at Subway but I got that job by applying online.

I'm a professional job-hunter, so I've got my resumes in a bunch of job search engines. Aside from CareerBuilder, I've got it on Monster, Indeed, Bright, MRI Search, etc. I've also got my information in on databases of my favorite companies. I've also networked on Linkedin.com where I've gotten a few interviews. Hopefully, one of these interviews I could turn into a new job as I feel that this year might be the year to move on. Goodluck with your job hunting!

I am on LinkedIn, but I must not be using it right. I have very few connections. I've joined a few groups but I am not on the site much. I tried to get my husband into it when I saw there were some job leads on there because he too is looking for a new job. Guess I will give it another try.

It's been a long time since I went jobhunting. I used to just go to the businesses or send my resume to the businesses at which I wanted to work. When my husband was jobhunting, he looked on the websites of the companies that might hire him to see if they had job postings.

I've used sites such as craigslist and simplyhired. I've also used snagajob as well. As of late, I'm not too crazy about any of these though. For example, the last job I found using craigslist turned out to be a temp agency. Not what I was looking for at all! Snagajob isn't really any better. From what I've seen most of their posting are old and outdated. But still, I look. After all, I have to find a job. If anything I prefer to go to the employer's site and apply directly through them, if I can. It's how I got my last job and the one before it. If only I hadn't gotten the runaround and passed that darn test, I wouldn't have to be searching for a new job right now...*sigh*

I normally check out Craigslist and Career Builder. I have looked at Snag a Job a few times too. I got one of my current jobs off Craigslist and one from just walking in and picking up an application. I got a job a few years ago off Craigslist and one through one of those job search pamphlets they have at grocery stores about 7 years ago.

look for offline and even online jobs. whatever that gives a good income and sure pay and those i could make. would accept t though being choosy it depend on the kinds of job and the salary it requires so the work is not rally tough as the income could be fair. so if not accepted then i try to look for online job so this would not waste my time being vacant a lot of time is not good and little sources of earning add up for a long time and get to see to pay bills and buy grocery.

I always job hunting on sulit.com.ph. Well, that was from past, but now, I gave up. Here, we have job fair, but the problem is, we're not sure if we're getting hired by employee or not. It takes more than 1 year before anyone call you and start a job. I do not know but that is what my friend told me about job fair.

Nice, the best way to do is to ask referrals from friends. Sometimes doing a research work is really good but somehow it is also worth waiting. In waiting you lack patience. Job street is also recommended but many are those in the internet posting for job vacancies. You said you knew how to identify the scam from not so keep trying and have patient in waiting. JUST DON'T GIVE UP. Being with the job you don't want or the company of less interest is not good, for you will be a burden to the company most especially your performance will be affected and will destroy your very asset in the future. Try to sit down yourself.think who really you are, your worth and most specially your best asset of service to the company you want to apply and I am sure one day I will see you at the top of your achievement.

Here in our country, I use jobsdb to search for jobs. Getting jobs online is not that easy. I think the key here is if you really want to get a job, visit the site everyday. Not all companies where you posted your application will respond to you, but if you'll send more applications everyday chances are you'll get response soon.

It's been a long time since I've been job hunting, but back when I was I got the majority of my jobs via recruitment agencies (I worked in a specialist field). Best of luck with the search.

I have also been looking for a job and I use craigslist and kijiji. Sometimes they work, sometimes not. My husband got his current job from craigslist, and his last one came from facebook! They have a local business group on FB here and that's where one job came from... I wish you the best of luck with finding a job. I hope I can get one soon too!
