Pros & Cons Of Having A Sister?

When I was a kid, I used to beg my mum and dad to adopt a sister for me haha. I just always wanted one who was like 2 or 3 years younger than me. I don't really care about that so much nowadays since I am 21 years old and have a friend or two who are pretty close to me like a sister could be. I wanted to ask MyLotters what they think having a sister is like or if you could tell me what it is like if you have one. I imagine it will differ depending on personalities but apparently sisters clash and have heaps or fights while other sisters are the bestest friends in the world and share everything together. I had a friend who was ALWAYS arguing with her sister. It got really annoying because the fights were extremely childish. Sometimes I think I would have liked a sister while other times I am glad that I only have two brothers. :P Happy MyLotting. ~AussieGal~

I have three elder sister and one youngest sister. I am the fourth daughter of five daughters. Since my third sister is ten years older than me, the three of them got married and had their own families now. My youngest sister is with me at work and we live in the same boarding house, too. My sisters and I have some conflicts sometimes but when we cooperate with each other, it feels good to have sibblings. You won't feel alone in this world. You always think that someone will help you no matter what happens.

Helping a family member can be very annoying sometimes. It feels like I don't have a choice here and I must help so, when my sister comes to my room, I take a deep breath and hope she won't ask for help. Now, when she asks for help with something, I try to avoid it or blame her for having low skills to help herself. I eventually help her. My sister is cute but a little stupid, so I have a lot of patience for her. My father, on the other hand, is smart, so, when he asks for help, I know it will be not easy to help him and even stressful and hard. I hate when he asks for help.

stringer: haha yeah I know the feeling. I often hope when someone comes in my room that it hasn't got anything to do with me moving or trying to help. :P Not because I'm lazy but because I help out a lot and don't really get appreciated for it. How old is your sister anyway? Like how far apart are you two?

Hello angelkarah! That is sweet to feel like you always have a sibling around when you need them for whatever reason. :) I bet your mum and dad thought it was just awesome to have so many daughters haha. Thank you so very much for answering. :)

Fighting with a sibling is normal. It is just like having a friend whom you would have some disagreements sometimes. Maybe those who never had a sister would think that they are lucky for not having to deal with a fight with her sister, but don't you and your brothers fight, too? I have one sister and she is 10 years younger than I am. I have always treated her as a baby sister no matter how old we have become. Well, we could have some disagreements, but it has not gotten to a point that we'd be screaming at each other and be cursing each other. It was how we were brought up- no violent reactions over disagreements.

Hello jenny! Yeah we used to fight lol I am glad you and your sister never had arguments that got out of hand. I have known others to literally attack haha. Just silly to do such a thing with another family member. Thank you very much for answering. :)

My sister fights with me sometimes when she needs me to do something and I don't feel like doing it. She starts to talk to my conscience and blames me. I tell her she takes things too personally and I don't really care about this or that. She cares too much about things and I am too apathetic for things and that's funny when we wants me to do something to make things better.

Hey. I only have a little brother which is pretty awesome. I've never wanted a sister and still don't to be honest. Girls can get a bit...emotional...and...annoying lol

stringer: wow that really isn't a big deal at all! I don't know. I guess people act cranky when they are tired but that got a bit out of hand there! haha glad she can amuse you. :P

Some big pros for having a sister is that girls are not too strange for me, I grow up with one so, I can understand a little bit how girls behave, how much they need shopping, gifts, cooking, help with technical stuff, annoying and need attention. Some cons can be the need to help them many times if they are not smart and it takes some patience. One pro can be that she brings pretty friends she has and it is just a nice view for the eyes :P She tried to set me some friends of her and it was nice. Now, I have a girlfriend that likes me a lot and my sister is the one who set us together. My sister met her while volunteering in a theater show. They were both actresses in that show.

Hello stringer! That's the thing about why I changed my mind over time. Because I grew up with two brothers, I can be a girly girl but that is rare. I am more of a tom-boy. I enjoy shopping for movies and video games rather than clothes shopping and I hate attention. I like to be appreciated but I don't need attention like 24 / 7 like most girls / women. I am so happy that your sister helped you with you and your girlfriend getting together. Very glad you are happy. :) Thank you very much for answering. :)

well, having a sister is a lot of fun and exciting, even though you will suffer from being bullied or being punch by her. but i don't really mind that because i love my sister and i enjoyed seeing her happy with what she does that is good things like, participating in school activities. my life would be so boring if i don't have any sister. though i have a brother i always love my little sister.
