Hero falls

A big deal here is the fall of Lance Armstrong, the bike racer. For me I can feel sorrow that he broke the rules, abused people and just used his ability in an unfair way. OR, I can see this person as another human, who is living his life, full of all the challenges that the rest of us face, failing like we all do and now taking advantage of being able to show us that no matter how your reputation falls apart and your life changes a person can pick themselves up, face mistakes and change your focus. Do I think he can do this? I do, he has great energy and can now chose to direct this toward the. good. Can you believe he can do this. or will he just use the public notice toward his own benefit? He has shown that he can give to others so I think he will take this chance to focus on the lessons learned.

Hello Savypat, I don't think he was a hero from the start, i pity him but pretending to be some cancer survivor just to get fame in bicycling. well, at least he's healthy and only thing he need to do is survive the hate coming from people who got disappointed with his lies. all those years, never really a avid fan of this person from the start.

I don't think he will change for the better. If he intended to change, why make a big production of his apology and get all the publicity? Sorry, but I think we give people too many chances. I did not at first believe that Armstrong would cheat all those years but now that he has admitted it I resent him for the example he sets for our young people. He cheated not once but dozens of times so he clearly intended to keep doing so. The only reason he stopped cheating was because he was caught. As for his charities, that's a great thing but given his lack of morals I can't help but wonder if they have been created and maintained as a backup for when he was inevitably caught. Lance Armstrong consciously and deliberately cheated for a number of years in order to win titles, prestige, and wealth. Not to help anyone or any other noble cause. He is a selfish person that would still be cheating his competitors and the public if he had not been found out.

Sad to know that those charities would be forfeited some how in the future knowing that the founder now is actually a fraud. i thought only my people in my country can do such a thing, who would have thought that some one would actually cheat on them. he was too smart but not long enough for every one to realize. hope he can just move on with his normal life now and forget about the pain

When a person is in the public eye, every little failure as a human is emphasized and broadcast to all, regardless of all the good he has done prior to the fall goes unnoticed, that is old news, what is news is his failure. People are too quick to see bad in others and as they say good news doesn't sell in the media world. Some people will fall at the first hurdle, others are determined to try harder the next time, hey, we all make mistakes, that's part and parcel of being human how we triumph over them is what matters.

Feels bad to those who admire him by heart especially small kids. I agree that he, just like other ordinary human is also prone to make mistake- and hope he will change for a better.

I don't think that the fact that he has been stripped of his wins in the Tour de France is really a fall from grace for him for a lot of people. You know I did really appreciate the fact that Lance Armstrong was such a great cyclist. However, the reason that I have far more admiration for him is because of all of the good that he has done in this country for individuals that are dealing with cancer. He is human and has definitely made some mistakes in his life, but to me that doesn't make him any less of a hero.

This is sad. He was dishonest and has to pay for it. Let us all earn from this man's choices he exercised. There is indeed consequences for our actions.
