A Special Treat

In leu of all of these cooking shows I have been watching, I have went all creative and made something of a special treat for my cat today. I got alittle of her catfood, the kind with alittle gravy in it and it's kind of chopped. Made three mice shapes with it, arranged them next to one another and then for the tails I used 4 pieces of dry food. I should take a photo if it, it is just something you have to see to believe but I made it for her and she ate most all of it now as I'm typing. Have you ever done anything as goofy as that for your cat?

That is actually pretty cute sounding. I have never done this for my cats, they proabbly wouldn't even notice it. I do once in awhile make mine homemade treats.

Nope, most of mine wouldn't even notice. They would eat it all up, before even noticing the shape.

That's very cute. I bet your cat is impressed with your culinary creativity. Years ago I bought 2 cookbooks - "Cat Nips! feline cuisine" and "The cat-Lovers' Cookbook". I made Catnip Crepes. They didn't like it. One book even had tandem recipes in it. Where you make something for yourself and the cat. First you mix the people part of it then take some out and add something to that for he cat, like Brewer's yeast. I had forgotten all about those books until I read your topic. The first one is here www.i-love-cats.com/forums/cat-book-reviews/24028-cat-nips-feline-cuisine.html and the other one is here www.amazon.com/The-Cat-Lovers-Cookbook/dp/B001VLPPKW I think they're both out of print now. They also have helpful hints and interesting things and stories in them, as well as recipes. On one of my cats first birthday I made a chocolate cat cake. It wasn't for the cats, though. It was a Wilton cat shaped pan and decorations and frosting tools. I have never decorated a cake in my life, except this one. I followed the directions and it came out so perfect I couldn't believe it. It actually looked professionally done. But that's about it. You're such a good cat mom.

LOL, she never noticed it or just thought she was given a strange plate of food if anything. Those cookbooks you got sound interesting. But I can see how they wouldn't like crepes, were they made out of dough at all? I had one of those Wilton cat pans, my brother gave it to me. I ended up selling it though cause I didn't think anyone here would eat a cake cake.

The crepes also had egg, milk, cream, vegetable oil, catnip, cottage cheese and anchovy paste. They liked the anchovy paste right out of the tube. I knew they liked everything except I wasn't sure about the oil and flour, I never gave them that before. I knew they liked scrambled eggs. I guess they just didn't like it all mixed together. It was more like a scrambled egg consistency. One of them just kind of looked at it, took a sniff and backed away. He seemed to think I was trying to poison him.

hi nail tech no its been so long that i do not remember that b ut I dir make a catnip patch just for my cat and she used to look so funny gettiny all excited and rolling all over it. My mom said I spoiled that cat as I should use the catnip for seasoning but no it was midnight's special place and she loved it too.

Nothing wrong with spoiling the cat at all. I have never used catnip as a seasoning in anything and probably wouldn't. I just thin of it as something as something that only belongs to a cat now. I know you can season some food with it though. I wonder what kinds? I made other things for her too, but this is the most current item.

Wow, your cat is so lucky to have you. That is so sweet and enriching, the joy of preparing something special for your lovely cat. I do not have cats at home. However, once in a while i do make the meals on my son's plate decorative and creatively presented. I feel good about it, and the joy to see his 'happy and surprised!' face make every effort worth it!

We don't have a cat because my husband is allergic to cats so I have nobody to make special treats with. But I bet you just made one lucky cat even luckier and happier! I also wish you could have taken a picture and showed it here, it sounds so creative (I almost said delicious, hahaha!)

I would try it again one day and show it, perhaps if I get into a mood to do it. I thought about it but people here might not understand it.
