My daughter is in the hospital...

My oldest daughter (25) was admitted to the hospital last night. She has Ulcerative Colitis and has been feeling poorly since her move back to Michigan. I feel so bad for her, her body just won't digest food the way it should. I plan on going up to see her first thing this morning. I was told they were keeping her overnight, so after I take the boys to school I will see what I can do to help. They (she and her sweet husband) may want me to keep the grandson (he's 1.5 now). I hope they can find an alternative other than having her colon removed. Sending out positive vibes into the universe. I love my daughter very much.

I will keep her in our prayers that the Dr.'s are able to heal here. Did you do some research to see the different things that Dr.'s can do with this sort of problem I suggest using Mayo clinc which is my Go to for Health related questions.

I hope she feels better soon. If only surgery would be the solution, then it should be done as soon as possible.

I agree with you Jenny, though i would hate to see her resort to something so final. I know others have beaten this disease through a change in the diet and proper flora.

She is only 25 years old, so I know that she is going to overcome this health challenge.

She is very young. When I went to the hospital, they didn't have any paperwork on her. Apparently she didn't stay there, so maybe she decided she could handle the pain.

I have a brother who has been dealing with this on and off for many yrs. now. He will be 41 in about 2 weeks. He has had boughts from time to time, and does have to watch what he eats, but has learned to deal with this. I do hope by now your daughter is feeling better, and things are progressing for the positive.

I am so sorry! I do hope that your daughter gets better. I know that is a complicated illness as I have a friend that has it. But so far, the doctors have been able to manage it without surgery so maybe they will be able to do that for your daughter too. Take care and luck!

Sorry to hear about your daughter's situation. I am not a medical expert but have you ever tried for alternative solution (alternative medication) to avoid colon removal? Wish you will find other way than surgery...

I agree, less avasive measures should always be taken first. She didn't stay at the hospital last night, so I don't know what she plans on doing.

I do believe that it is a good thing that the are keeping her in the hospital so that perhaps they will be able to help her get on the path to recovery. Now I personally don't know anything about ulcerative colitis, but I know that most of the conditions that people deal with can typically be managed with some kind of medication. We had a lot of patients at the hospital that dealt with chronic problems like this and most of them did end up having a pretty good prognosis in the long rung.

Hi! Sorry to hear about your daugheter's condition, I do hope for an alternative medicine for her but we also have to accpet the fact that it might be better to be removed if it may cause more damage to her health. May God bless you.
