People hear horror stories on the news about "frat boys" drinking each other into comas , throwing their members off of roofs, or even deaths that result from alcohol or violent hazing, but is this what really happens around those countries who have fraternal organizations? If so, why are thousands of young people placing themselves in this situation each of every year, and how can the universities and international or even national organizations overseeing these companies possibly allow it to continue? The question itself might lead one to believe that all is not what it seems when it comes to fraternities and Greek system that are a large part of campus life all over the world/country. In fact, these organizations that are battling years of bad reputation and slander, all the while trying to build development programs and events that can help their members excel in academics, one campus involvement, and in the workforce (both while in school and post-graduation). So how just are these fraternities accomplishing these things, and is there any truth behind the "frat boy" image so that many people seem to fear? Is there a truth to the myth that the fraternities overthrow social order in the community by engaging troubles and frat wars as commonly reported in the local or even national media, or even throw parties and celebrations? Do you have any experience of fraternal issues? if yes, please share!...

Fraternity means brotherhood. I believe it is more of a gang than what it is called. It is a front for evil and bad activities but others are joining because they want a thrill of it, no matter what, or it disguises itself as a real brotherhood to counter other frats,...

Yeah you're right. Fraternity is a group of brothers having one motto, principle and preamble being followed. It is then the so-called second brothers of blood. The camaraderie and friendship of every members are very strong and attaching. Some says it is an avenue to promote friendship in the society, some are joined due to curiosity or being convinced by friends. However, whatever the reason is, as long as you are a fully blooded member you are already part of the organization and then directed to promote common good for every human in the society. Nevertheless, such cases of frat wars (those so-called BAD EGGS) are not beyond the control of the organization officers yet is is then their will wherein they're too much impulsive considering that they have companions and are members of such fraternities but it is not the mission and vision of fraternity. I do hope that the bad image inculcated in the minds of the people were not compromised with those occurrences. Fraternity organizations intent for the good and order of the society and nothing else more. Thank you for your opinion toyota4K.

hi, actually i am afraid to join any fraternity here in my country because some of them brings trouble in the life of a person, and aside from that it can lead them to bad path of life.in the campus where i studied there were two group of fraternity but only one of them were such bad and maybe it will depend upon the person's character too.

Unfortunately, this really is something that does happen with some fraternities. However, this is something that tends to be the exception to the rule as opposed to being something that happens all the time. In all honestly, hazing is illegal, so individuals that take part in hazing could end up going to jail. However, that doesn't stop some people from taking part in hazing activities.
