My womanhood-curse strikes again...

Philippines

Just this morning when I peed, I felt pain, a burning sensation that lasted for a few seconds, after urine flows. I got UTI again! I really hate bearing this ailment. I've had this since I was a kid, and it would recur, every now and then. This time, I didn't feel any lighter symptoms, at all. It just suddenly came out as pain on my bladder. And, now, I start going every 15-30 minutes. Oh my, I got to see the doctor soon, and get some antibiotics. I heard cranberry juice is also good to prevent and help fast recovery.

This is but a serious matter , recurrence of UTI could mean a renal problem in the future. It is not easy to have that burning sensation , so awful and awkward . I guess you need to see a specialist for this , and you need to increase fluid intake , Refrain for those junk foods around , those things are salty and have lots of preservatives, not only junk foods but also salty and fatty foods. Please don't self medicate because it may worsen the condition. Let us listen to the specialist ,they know whats the best for the patient and they don't hide just prepare yourself for series of laboratories procedure. All the best friend !

I had to reschedule my lab test tomorrow, because I have no time to go out today. It's hard for me to go just anywhere I need to, because I have a baby to look after. Tomorrow, my husband is off from work, and he can drive me to the clinic and watch the baby. I hope it's not too late, yet. Right now I just drink lots of water and urinate whenever I feel a slight tingle, so it won't hurt too much.

this is common for most women, my sister also experiences such a thing.,me too i had it before, especially when i was pregnant,.i wasn't aware about it but when i was 2 months on my pregnancy i experience pain when urinating and only a small amount of urine comes out, then i just observe it after a week, everything was normal again. so i thought everything is ok,.then on 7 months of my pregnancy, on prenatal my obygyne said my tummy is hard and contracting so she asked for a lab test of urine and that was diagnosed i have UTI, so i was presribed and had antibiotics then, every month i have different antibiotics..i'm not sure now, if i still have it as i am not experiencing any symptons, but sometimes even when we take antibiotics and drink water still it is hard to go away and still recurs and comes back. i think no woman has not had any UTI in her life, it is really common for us.

yes that's right. it is bad to have UTI during pregnancy because this can cause premature labor or low birth weight of the baby and for the infection to be passed on the baby too.

yeah, and sadly, I got hit by it, and took its toll on my baby.

When we're pregnant, we really are so prone to UTI. In fact, my first pregnancy was badly affected by it. My doctor didn't catch it, and the infection caused my water bag to break sooner, and my baby came out smaller than expected. Good thing, there was no serious damage or infection on the baby.

Sorry to hear this. Try to avoid foods that may trigger this ailment. I haven't experienced this but I know some friends who are also suffering from UTI. Ask for other alternative remedies from alternative doctors- you need to detoxify your system to avoid damaging your kidney.

I do fasting every now and then. Say,I fast for a day once a month (but sometimes I forgot to follow) I start to watch what I eat since I got pregnant with my first child. Because I want my baby to be healthy. Our family have history of heart ailment and that is one reason why I always take care of my health. It's not impossible to avoid UTI if you avoid saturated foods.

Oh, good for you. That won't be easy to avoid those kind of food. A challenge and a goal to aim for.

You're very lucky to not have experience this, considering you're a woman. You must be eating healthy food and live a healthy lifestyle, to have avoided UTI all your life. Do you detox often?

I have experienced that quite a number of times as well. I even had very painful episode that I literally bled. The pain was so intense that I needed to take some strong med.so that I can fall asleep.

Antibiotics that are usually prescribed for this is BACTRIM Forte (cotrimoxazole). You only need to take it 2x a day for a week. That usually gets rid of it. Haven't you gone to a doctor regarding your condition?

I scheduled an appointment tomorrow, but I'm getting Urinalysis tonight at a nearby laboratory clinic. Doctors around our area are hard to catch, so we have to schedule appointments ahead. Also, it's not easy for me to leave house because I have kids and have noone else to leave them with. When I had UTI during pregnancy, my doctor prescribed me Augmentin.

Are those antibiotics? Did you have some maintenance or preventive meds for your recurrent UTI?

oh! that is sad man! that too from childhood. God! I know it is hell. At this time, please go see the doctor as soon as you can . Drink plenty of water. Your body needs water more than anytime ever in your life. Just keep drinking a lot of water and keep cleansing your bladder. Do not delay in emptying your bladder also. Since you are drinking a lot of water, you tend to pee a lot more than usual which is natural, so just go and pee as soon as you feel like. DO not delay. It will increase the pain. Yes, cranberries and blueberries work wonders with the treatment of the UTI. Take in more of these and remember to take them even after the infection is gone. It doesn't harm you, but it will probably resist the next infection. precautionary measure. Eat pineapples. They will help you to overcome the pain and do not allow the infection to last for long.

I'm gonna get a bottle to try the cranberry. I heard it doesn't really taste very good, but if it heals then its worth trying it out.

I just got a bottle last weekend and have had 3 glasses. It wasn't as bad as I expected. I think it helped that you guys warned me about the taste. That way I expected it to be that gross, and yet, it was actually something I could bear.

I am sorry to hear that but I think to term it as womanhood-curse is not proper. Haha. It is just sad to hear that it started since your childhood. Did't you see any doctor yet? Because you've been asking for cranberry and yes, cranberry juice can help. Even fresh coconut juice can do but then clean water is the best. You just have to drink a lot to help clean your urinary system. And of course avoid spicy and salty foods as well as carbonated drinks. I'm talking base on my sister's experience. Now, she can handle it well.

I also slip when I feel better again. But I do try to drink lots of water instead of those carbonated drinks. I really do not want to experience that painful episode again. There was also one incident that I was having high fever about 40 degrees Celsius, and I was chilling so bad. My mom had to rush me to the hospital.

I termed it as such, because women are more prone to it, than men. That is because women have shorter urinary tract, and I guess, a wider opening..lol. I'm really not good at avoiding what needs to be avoided. I would follow doctor's advice for the prescribed period, but after such time, I slide back and have those carbonated drinks and no-no food.

Yes, cranberry juice is very good for UTIs. And it's good to try those kinds of preventatives because your body will eventually build up a tolerance for antibiotics and they'll have to use stronger and stronger ones. But you probably already know that. I hope you can find some relief for it.

Freak! even i suffer with this many times especially if i have not seen the toilet for many hours. Also i suffer a lot in summer with this problem. This is caused due to more heat in our body. I also heard eating a piece of jaggery and drinking water over it helps to cure this. I hate when i experience this, i feel like someone is pricking a needle in my bladder and abdomen

It really is not a good one to have. I think I get UTI 1-2 times in a year. Probably, even more, but some times it just goes away when I do water therapy and be more conscious with urinating regularly.

I have not experienced UTI at all, but one of my close friends had.. and she experienced it quite a number of times too. I was her one time when she had it, and she looked like she was really in a lot of pain. She also drank lots of cranberry juice to relive her.

Hi Jure, yes you should go to doctor for some check because you should not neglect a silly problem. Now days many girls and women are suffering from different types of female diseases. It may be a simple infection due to taking less water everyday. Yes you can drink the cranberry juice but drinking of 750 gm plain water every morning before breakfast can play a vital role to cure this disease. This water therapy can cure many other diseases as well. May God save you from serious disease.

That's a helpful tip. Thanks a lot. I drink a lot of water in a day, but not much before breakfast. I just usually take a glass, because my mouth would feel so dry, after waking up.

I also have UTI eversince I was a kid. That is the reason too (I think) why I have dysmenorrhea every monthly period. :( What a bad monthly experience that I always have. I can't go up the bed when I have a monthly period before. It has been how many years since I was operated in my uterus. They removed something in it. I don't know about cranberries but what I've heard is about buko juice can help. I hope you will feel better soon. It is hard to move and do things when you're not feeling well.

I didn't have bad dysmenorrheas, though. That's one thing I'm happy about, because I know some girlfriends who always complain about bad cramps when they have their period. I'm glad I didn't get to experience that. But, my doctor said I have high tolerance to pain, so that may also be a reason why I don't complain much. So, if I feel pain, then that must be serious already. I will try to catch the buko vendor today. There's a group of kids who would go around the neighborhood with their "pedicab" selling buko.

Yes it does help but it won't prevent it it will help lower the amount of time and also when you do go pee sit longer on the toilet and tried to make sure there is no more pee in there because if there is any left over it will cause another affection. Lots of women get them more after having children because the bladder is week. Which means do some kegals to help with those muscles that will help.

I'm sorry to hear about your condition, and you're right you should immediately go to the doctor to start on the treatments ASAP. It is painful and very uncomfortable, I know because I had it too. Thank goodness that I didn't get it again. And yes, the doctor listed cranberry juice and more water as part of my diet when I was being treated. Hope you get well soon.

I had this 2 years ago and I really freaked out because for a short period of time there's blood in my urine. I called my mother and she bought me an antibiotic pill, and she let's me drink coconut juice most of the time. By the next day, I was urinating normally, everything was fine then.
• Philippines
18 Jan 13
Really, you cured it overnight? Antibiotics are usually prescribed by doctors to be taken for at most 7 days. And, at that stage where you see blood in your urine, your infection must be already be very serious. I don't see blood yet, but it really hurts to urinate.
