I offer the American gun loving and gun controlling folk a compromise. As the NRA and others love to cite the 2nd Amendment as the basis of their "right" to near arms let us permit that. However, the arms that they bear should be of the type that was available to the Army (British) of 1791 which was when the Amedment was enacted. British in the grounds that in 1791 the majority of Americans were still using British rifles. I present to you the Ferguson rifle. An improvement on the 'Brown Bess' that had been used during the War itself. It's slow and breech loading but accurate, you should be able to hit a deer with one but a human, which seems to be a major target for so many, might be harder to hit and of course you won't get as many as with an assault rifle. I commend it.

It makes far too much sense to be taken seriously.

I'm going to remember this, especially since many NRA supporters are also bible thinkers, who think things are today, as they were in biblical times!
