Hamster cage - Hamster cage I bought

I have been debating whether to foster the hamster from the shelter or not, or just adopt him. He is so cute, and loves the attention. He has been so depressed the last few days I have gone in. I stopped at Pet Valu to check out cages. I ended up buying on, using the rest of my gift card, then paying the rest. I did pay more for it as it was more secure, and more rommie in it. It comes with the running wheel, a food bowl, water bottle, and the tunnesl through it, which you can buy extra to attach.

So what is his name or what will you be naming him? I just wonder how Marco will react to the new addition.

I don't think Marco will be an issue, he sucks up to the guinea pigs, and supervises them. If they smaller than him, and he is still in control he is fine. Patches may wonder what it is, so I will have to introduce slowly and I think same with the guinea pigs when I got them she was so curious she was on top of the cage watching them.

Cat's are naturally curious creatures so it's no surprise. So Marco's family is really growing then? Perhaps he'll take the new addition under his fatherly wing then and that would be so cute.

I think he will be fine, I always say he should of been a girl. He will supervise the guinea pigs, and make sure they are fine. The other day when they were out on my bed, Max was going near the edge he hoped over, and stopped him (it was so cute).

That's a nice looking cage. Will he be living in it alone, or will the others come to visit?

Nope, living by himself. Hamster are very territorial so they can't live together, or else they will kill each other.

I can understand your wanting to keep him. I would too. At one time I had five weiner dogs and two cats but it got to be too much. My chief question from this discussion: How do you know when a hamster is depressed?

Just his behaviour changed, he was sleeping more, not playing as much. I have 3 cats, 2 guinea pigs, 1 rabbit and soon to be 1 hamster. I always do a budget up before, and make sure I can afford it before I get them. I will always put their needds first.

That's a great cage--glad you decided to adopt him. I have had hamsters in the past--some are quite active and friendly, and really have a personality--sounds like your little--er--chunky guy. Enjoy him!

He is very active, and loves the attention. When I am at teh shelter I carry him around, and let him look out the window. I think he just wants the love and attention. I bought the bigger cage, and looking for toys for him now.

That's so cute...what a good mommy you will be to him. He sounds like he is very comfortable around people, which is great. I am sure he will LOVE the toys you get him--almost as much as you will love watching him play with them!
